Disclaimer! I don't own Alice in Wonderland. This is another one for my friend Colby (Shaggelmalove) because I need some motivation. Sorry for those of you waiting for my other story; I am doing this for you guys.
He looked so familiar; the red hair, lime green eyes, pale skin, and, of course, the hat. That wonderful top hat that she would know anywhere. Erica was skeptical of him, but she was just being cautious. Colby finally convinced her that it was the same man from their childhood; the Hatter. His hair was longer and well kept, but his life has been difficult since their last visit and it changed him. However, she always had a secret crush on him when the girls were younger, but now she saw him in a more mature way. Well…mature for her standards.
After the girls defeated the Jabberwocky they had the choice to stay in Underland or to leave. Erica saw the sadness in Colby's eyes as they instantly snapped to the Hatter's equally as miserable gaze. The young vampire couldn't help but notice their blossoming relationship. Now, Erica could be almost as heartless as the Red Queen, herself; but Colby knew deep down that she cared. Especially when she put her arm around Colby and said "You know…we don't have to go." As soon as her friend said that Colby launched herself into the Hatter's arm and they shared their first passionate kiss. The way they looked in each others' eyes told them that they would be together forever.
The wedding ceremony was beautiful and the reception was fun, but Colby was really nervous about that night. She put it out of her head and enjoyed herself as best she could. There was dancing, laughing, Futterwacking, drinking, and having fun that she was soon distracted (her short attention span helped with that too). Every time Erica dragged her to the dance floor, she would lock eyes with her new husband to catch him smiling as she lip-synced another upbeat country song. Suddenly, she wasn't so worried about what came afterward.
After the twins were born, little Nymphadora and Charlie grew up to look like their mother with their father's eyes. When they were two, little Nell Elizabeth came into the world, much to Erica's dismay. She seemed to "always get stuck with the little snot-monsters" in her own words. Nell had Tarrant's hair color and Colby's brilliant emerald eyes. Everyone in Underland would gush over the little bundles of joy every time they made a public appearance. Colby would often fear that they planned to steal them away from her, but she knew she was just being ridiculous. However, it could happen! They were awfully cute.
"And that's the story of how your mommy and daddy fell in love," Erica finished for the Hightopp children during one of Erica's babysitting nights. The vampire would often tell stories about the "Fantastic Adventures of Colby and Erica" but Nell wanted a love story (casing her brother to make a face). Erica thought of no love story better than that of their own parents. The five year old boy looked as if he couldn't care less about a love story, but both girls were wide eyed and in absolute awe.
"Any questions?" Erica asked the "snot-monsters" as she so often referred to them; though, anyone could see the soft-spot she had for them. Two-year-old Nell raised a tiny hand and hugged her teddy bear in embarrassment. The vampire nodded toward the small girl, signifying to ask her question.
"Where do babies come from?" she asked in a small voice. For once, Erica was speechless. What the hell was she supposed to tell her? Suddenly the answer was clear and she knew exactly what to say to the curious child. Erica looked into Nell's emerald eyes and put on the straightest face she could and replied:
"Ask your parents."
