After the War, Hermione and Ron decided it best to stay as friends. The dating relationship of their lives really hadn't worked out like they had thought, but still found time to spend together.
One day at Bourgin and Burkes, Hermione ran into Draco. He wasn't as bad as they thought him to be, and gave him another chance to become friends, without a Dark Lord in the way. The two knew they challenged each other during their school years.
Draco and Hermione hit it off right away, seeing life in a new light. After two years of dating, Draco popped the question in Hermione's surprise at her favorite restaurant. Molly and Narcissa worked hard together to make it the wedding of the century, and it was at the Weasley's. Such a beautiful wedding it was.
Every year on the same day, the couple always went to their friend's graves who fought and lost their lives on the dark day of the War. Draco knew how much it hurt Hermione to go there but she held on to the fact that the world was a better place and she missed Fred, Tonks and Lupin and the others so much. But it was very hard for Harry having lost his beloved white owl Hedwig. Draco especially missed his Godfather.
One day, Hermione was reading a romantic novel in the mansion's library.
"Always the bookworm, aren't you, Miss Granger?" She froze. Never in a million years would she hear that voice again. She slowly turned around in her comfy chair, and saw the dark haired crooked-nosed man standing there in the doorway. He didn't notice the smirk she had on her face. 'So that's how he's gonna play it,' she thought and smirked again.
"I thought you were de -" he cut her off.
"Dead? Yes, I am dead, but I look real, do I not?" He said and walked over to her. "You have certainly grown into a nice young woman, Miss Granger."
"It's Malfoy now, Professor," she said, going along with this, smiling slightly now.
"Oh really? My godson finally got over his prejudice and made due with his fancy for you," It was his turn to smirk and she blushed. 'He's fancied me before?'
He tilted her head up to meet her eyes, and this time for sure saw her smirking.
