The others had decided to eat someplace else, because as Wes had explained, just watching Trip eat was filling. And he was right-- Trip had ordered enough to feed a family, while Katie had yet to finish her small order of fries. But she hadn't come here to eat.

"I still can't believe how good the food is in this century!" Trip finished his third burger that evening and then took another sip of soda.

Katie smiled as she played with the straw of her own drink. "And to think, fast food is extinct in our time."

Trip turned his attention to his fries. "A sign that Human civilization in the year 3000 has gone into serious decline."

Her smile widened as she watched Trip keep eating. This was why she came here. There were two things in the world that got Trip to come out of his shell, that got him to stop worrying about how he compared to everyone else and just enjoy himself: inventing... and eating.

"You sure you don't want any?" It was a little hard to understand what he was saying, since his mouth was full. "I don't mind sharing."

Katie leaned back in her seat, figuring she'd be here for awhile, not that she minded. "Don't worry about it. I guess my eyes are bigger than my stomach."
