Kaniehti:io had no idea what she was getting herself into. A white mans wedding, she had never attended one so she had no idea what to expect. She was alone in all of this.

Her family did not wish to accept for for marrying off to a white man. In her culture, the wedding would be called off, before it even started.

Though, she was getting married in a whole new way, there were a few things she kept. She wore her traditional clothing a bride should wear. With her came a basket, containing material and clothing, to show that she was committed to him and their child, Ratonhnhaké:ton.

Her hair, pinned up different than the normal braids. It fell natural, dark waves to breast-length.

Her heart began to pound as the time grew near. Ratonhnhaké:ton held onto her hand as the doors of the church opened. The only people who seemed to be there were the men Haytham worked with and their wives and children. Her family was not present, she understood why.

But in no way would that stop her for going out and obtaining what she truly wanted. To be with a man she could honestly say she loved.

Gripping tighter onto the toddlers hand, they made their way down the aisle. Stopping at the end of the pews.
