How Lelouch learned to love the power of FLEJA:

"FLEJA Warhead incoming!" A random bridge officer called out.

Alright, time to do some crazy ass shit! With that thought, Lelouch vocalized his order.

"Have a squad of Gareth rush forward to meet it, and have one of them use its hands to grasp it, and then fly towards the Damocles, while the other squadmembers protect it!"

"Yes, your Highness." Cecile replied as she relayed the order.

What happened next was an event that would be forever etched into history as the most brilliant and simple military maneuver for generations to come.

While the soldiers may have been mind controlled with Geass, Jeremiah Gottwald was not, and thus, he was able to aid Lelouch's maneuver, while successfully escaping the blast radius. After visibility had returned, it became apparent that while the Damocles was still standing, well, floating, hovering, flying, in the air, it was not in the nicest state. Apparently its total energy output was directed towards protecting its core systems, and while it was successfully shielded by its Blaze Luminous shield, since it didn't consider protecting the FLEJA launcher as high-priority, it could not longer fire the FLEJA.

Meanwhile, with the Black Knights, most of their forces have been wiped out. Additionally, the FLEJA, while not causing major damage to the Ikaruga, had caused a major turbulence, and as a result, it was preoccupied with trying to stabiles itself.

In the later years under Emperor Lelouch's reign, the lesson learnt from this Battle was FLEJAs were to be fitted with instant-activation self-destructs, to prevent them from being flown back to where it came from.
