Voldemort was not seen as a caring person or a loving person. In fact, he was seen as the complete opposite of that, but now that Rodolphus Lestrange was dead, his feelings were starting to change. Bellatrix was everything he could have wanted—she was passionate, loyal, powerful, and understood him.
Voldemort confirmed that he had feelings for Bella after Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger escaped the Malfoy Manor. Voldemort had tortured the Malfoys, Greyback, and some of the other snatchers because they had let Harry Potter escape. It was now Bella's turn for torture. Voldemort turned to her and screamed, "Crucio!" Bella's fell to her knees, but did not scream. There was something strange about putting Bella under the Cruciatus curse. It just didn't seem right to Voldemort; in fact it felt wrong and made him feel guilty. Right then, Voldemort knew that he loved Bellatrix.
3 days had passed since Harry Potter's escape. Voldemort apparated to the manor. "Bella, I must speak with you in private," Voldemort said.
"Yes, my lord," Bella replied while leading her master into her room. She cast charms on the room so nobody could come in or hear them. She turned around and found herself mere centimeters from Voldemort. Voldemort looked into her dark eyes and she looked into his red eyes. His snake like hands slithered around her waist and he kissed her right on the lips. They were so sweet and soft. He wished that he could kiss them all day! When he pulled away she was staring at him wearing a shocked expression. "My lord?"
"Bella, when I tortured you, it felt wrong and I felt bad for doing it. I realized that I felt bad because, Bella, I love you," Voldemort said simply. Bellatrix stared at him for a moment and then kissed him. Voldemort was slightly shocked at her reaction, but kissed her back anyways. He wrapped his arms around her protectively. That night, Bella slept curled up in Voldemort's arms. Voldemort looked down at her sleeping form. I wonder why I never did this before?
