Too Late
Her voice came out shakily as she pressed the cold tip of the gun against her temple.
"Let me die! There's no happy ending for me, no one cares for me. Let me be in peace! …please…" She was pressed up on the edge of her desk. The desk she had created in the office she had created in the town she had created. A town where no one would have their happy endings except her. But everything had turned upside down, and now she was backed up against her desk with a gun pointed at her head.
It wasn't fair, nothing was fair for her. No one had ever cared for her, no one but Daniel. Not even Henry, who she had raised and truly loved, cared for her. He wasn't there in the small group that had gathered. She didn't want him to be. Not many people were there at all, just some townsfolk that had heard the commotion and rushed in. They were more interested in what was going on rather than in saving her. Prince Charming and Snow White were there in front of the group, trying to coax her out of this.
"Regina, you don't have to do this. It's not to late for your happy ending. Please Regina, put the gun down. You still can have a good life," Snow was there, a hand stretched out toward her. If anything, that made Regina hold the gun tighter, and she pressed it against her temple even harder. She didn't want to hear this from Snow. Snow, who Regina had met when she was only a little girl. Snow, who seemed to forgive her after every attempt on her life. Snow, who had ruined Regina's chance at happiness. She closed her eyes, and her finger trembled on the trigger and her eyes fluttered closed.
"It's too late…" Regina remembered all those times that she had tried to be a good person. She had done everything she could to win the love of the people around her, but they still all hated her and called her an evil witch. She was growing too tired to keep struggling. She was tired of feeling lonely and being hated and knowing that she would never be happy.
Suddenly, someone's arms were around her and they pulled her close and moved the gun from her head tenderly. Regina squirmed, but she was too exhausted and there was something nurturing in these arms. She opened her eyes and allowed the gun to be removed from her quivering hands. Her breath hitched in her throat and she leaned into the embrace.
Regina looked into the light-colored eyes. She saw something in those eyes that she hadn't felt for a long time. Love. And then the face with the pale eyes full of concern was coming closer, and Regina felt their lips press together. She melted into the kiss, and all thoughts of suicide melted away. Suddenly, a little boy broke his way through the crowd.
"MOM!" and Henry ran and nearly tackled Regina. "Mom, please, please don't do it! I love you!" Regina stared shocked at him and enveloped him in her arms. Maybe Daniel wasn't the last person to love her. Regina felt the two people who mattered most to her hugging her and she let out a contented chuckle. Maybe it wasn't too late for her happy ending.
Well, that pretty much wraps up the story... Hoped you liked it!
