Smile
At first she was a pretty face sitting in the sand,
Always watching me from afar,
But those eyes changed earth's rotation,
Simply when she stared at her soft hands.
So secretly...
She would always make me smile.
then one hot summer day I decided,
That the girl with salted brown waves,
Could listen to my secrets,
And in her I willingly confided.
So then openly...
She would always make me smile.
In time we would frolic together in the sun,
And I began to call her mine,
But most days we spent so far apart,
Until the night where we would together come undone.
So then lovingly...
She would always make me smile.
Then on that dreadful day in September,
In the air after the storm,
From the wreckage that our lives had become,
I came to our special place I remember,
And see her beautiful weeping face.
So then secretly, openly, lovingly...certainly...
I made my love smile.
