CHAPTER ONE: The Meeting
So, blady blah, we all know what happens, Simba is born and his uncle wants to kill him.
Being Future King is fun, but it wouldn't be fun without your friends, would it?
So, this is the story of three friends who had many adventures together.
The African Savannah was hot and dry, and Simba, future king of the pride lands, was headed for a little pool he had found one day. He wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the Savannah's main and busy watering hole, and relax after his hard days work with his father, who was teaching him about "How to be a King".
He arrived at the pool and collapsed gratefully into the cool water. He lapped it up greedily letting it was all over his dry tongue.
He was all set to leave when he heard a crack. Was it coming from the bushes? Summoning up all his courage he moved forward to investigate. Suddenly,
CRASH!!
A giant whirl of brown and black smashed through the undergrowth, knocking Simba flying.
He landed painfully on his side in the pool.
"Oh my gosh are you okay?" someone asked.
"I-I-I'm fine thanks-" he said getting to his feet. He stopped. He realised what he was talking to.
It was a griffin. It was brown and black with a large hooked beak and razor sharp talons for fore-legs. On its back were to giant wings and it had huge paws as back-legs.
Simba had heard of the griffins. His mother had told him they were dangerous creatures and to keep away from them. He also knew that their numbers were few. More often than not they were caught and eaten by predators.
He looked at the one standing before him. Judging by its size, this one was just a baby, but even so, it was still very large in comparison to himself.
"You're a – a griffin!" he exclaimed.
"Yes." The griffin replied "and I'm sorry I crashed into you."
"That's okay." Simba said "But, why were you running?"
"I was running away from predators." The griffin said, "They killed my mother and I wanted to get as far away as possible. I knew I had lost them but I kept on running, I probably shouldn't have, are you hurt?"
"No." Simba said "I'm Simba, by the way."
"Griffo." The Griffin said, "I suppose I'd better go now." He continued, rather sadly.
"But, where will you go?" Simba asked "Griffins move around, but without your mother you won't last long!"
"I suppose not." Said Griffo.
Simba considered. The Griffin was only young, and he didn't seem ferocious or violent in any way.
"You could… erm….come back to my place-"
"You think that would work?" Griffo asked uncertainly.
Simba thought for a long while.
"No, Gulp but its worth a try!"
