They met in the dense onyx of the night; each escaping the prison they deemed 'home'.

They loved to play with the other's hair.

"It's soft! I wish mine were the color of a star."

"Yours is pretty; it shines blue in the moonlight."

Each smiled in delight, cheeks rosy from the cold nip of the air that blew about them.

They laughed together, ran together, and when it came time to part, they both cried together, for they knew not if they would see each other again the next night.

On a warm, spring night, they met again, but with terrible news.

The boy, with eyes as innocent as a doe's, was to leave the next day.

The other, with hair that shone like a star's flame, wept at losing his one friend. He, too, was unable to return to their meeting spot, for his caretaker had become suspicious.

They wept against one another for several moments, before each decided to make the most of their last hours together.

They played harder than they ever had before; laughed until they both had shed tears; when the time came, they were too exhausted to cry.

No tears came, but each was crying on the inside, knowing this to be the end of their wondrous friendship.

They took the other's hand, lifting it palm-up towards the light of the lunar rainbow above. They vowed to forever remember the other and sealed the deal with a tender touch of their lips.

-.-.-.-.-.

A soft smile graced the pretty features of the boy as he stood against the shine of the moonlight. The light shaded his hair to a shiny blue, and his coffee eyes radiated innocence and an undying devotion.

"...a lunar rainbow..." He murmured softly, fleeting memories dancing in his head.

A taller man came to peer beside him, scoffing at the pretty sight. "I don't understand what you see in those, Haku." He turned and disappeared into the room.

Haku smiled again, lifting his palm to the light the moon. "I wouldn't expect you to, Zabuza-san.." He kissed the center of his palm as a breeze blew past.

Jade eyes traced the arch of the rare beauty, softening in recognition. His lips curved upwards gently as he, too, raised his palm to the dim light.

"Doka ki o tsukete kudasai..." He murmured gently, pressing his lips to his palm.

"Kimimaro-kun, Orochimaru-sama would like to see you..." Kabuto paused, perplexed. "Is there something the matter?"

"Kekko desu.." The silver-haired teen followed him out, glancing over his shoulder to the rainbow and smiling.

This was written a very long time ago. Originally posed only on deviantart, until a few days ago, I had the craving to search for some KimiHaku/HakuKimi... Only there was ONE one-shot up. Feeling rather put out, I decided "Hey, I should put mine up!" And, here we are! This was written for my girlfriend, really. She caught my kiriban on deviantart. xD Oh, and hey, my first K-rated story! Shocker...

(Just checked the date that I originally submitted it onto dA, and it was April 30th, 2007!! Wow!)
