This is one of the old works I found while cleaning up the folders on my computer. I'm posting this because Sam and G definitely need more love.

Warning: Can be read as slash depending on the googles you're wearing.

He needs to make sure Callen's alright, needs to feel the life still in his body with his own hands, needs to touch. After each close or not-so-close call – after each shoot-out, really – Sam touches Callen to reassure himself that he's still alive, still breathing, still there. A pat on the shoulder, an arm slung over the shoulders, steering him to his car with a hand on his back. There was a hug once, too.

And Callen knows this, is very much aware of it, so every time they fire their guns, before Sam can even ask, he says "I'm alright.", or "I'm fine.", and that's that. It helps, and time passes, and those words alone manage to convince him eventually. Only when it's clear that G is lying, when he's hurt nevertheless, Sam can't fight the urge to touch him. To make sure it's nothing life-threatening. He is always the one who ends up patching G up. And they both wouldn't want to have it any other way.
