Play
She took in several deep breaths before stretching her hands out over her head.
She sighed as she rested her pale fingers unto the ivory keys of the brilliant white piano.
Mai was fortunate enough to find an empty room--one with a nice piano too.
She smiled as she felt herself take all her stress out onto the piano.
"Uhn" came from somewhere behind her.
Mai turned around, bewildered that someone had found her hiding place. She still kept playing the piano though.
Behind her, stood a tall handsome boy with dark hair. He was look at Mai with an unreadable gaze.
Mai blinked. "I think I know him from somewhere… Isn't he always with Honey-senpai?"
"Mmm..." He closed his eyes, as if the music that Mai was playing overwhelmed him a bit.
Mai tilted her head as she returned her attention to the beautiful piano.
She closed her eyes too, as if to ignore the handsome senior that had rudely interrupted her reverie.
Mai suddenly felt the weight of the chair shift. Someone had seated themselves next to her.
She lifted an eyebrow as she stopped playing in order to turn to the intruder.
He simply shook his head as he placed a hand over hers.
"Play." He said.
And so she did.
Mai smiled as she felt calm overwhelm her.
"Hnn…"
Mai looked up from the piano and turned to the senior.
He smiled, "You play so beautifully."
Mai blushed, she didn't expect that.
See, Mai hasn't had any formal lesson in piano yet, so praise from anyone embarrassed her.
"Thanks," Mai said, as she turned away so that the senior wouldn't see her blush.
She heard him sigh behind her.
Mai turned around, alarmed.
She didn't know why she cared, but she just had to ask him, "Are you alright?"
"Mhm." Was the reply she got.
She looked up and was surprised with the intensity of the gaze that she met.
They both held their gazes for what seemed like hours.
Mai, blushing furiously, finally turned away.
When she was sure that her cheeks would cooperate, she looked up.
Again, she met the same electrifying intensity of his gaze. But this time, he smiled.
"Morinozuka Takashi."
Ah, yes. Mai remembered who he was now.
"M-mai." She answered, feeling the blush creeping back.
He blinked. "Ah."
For the next few minutes, they both sat awkwardly next to each other.
Suddenly, Mai laughed.
Mori looked up, confused.
"Ah, Gomen Mori-senpai!" Mai smiled, "So what I've heard about you was true! You are a man of a few words."
Mori smiled sadly. "I'm just not comfortable in conversations."
Mai was surprised as she replied with a feeble, "Oh."
She didn't expect that answer. Heck, she didn't even expect him to reply.
"I-I just feel comfortable with y-you, I guess." He smiled sheepishly.
Mai merely blushed in agreement. She felt the same way.
He smiled as he placed his hand on her head and ruffled her short hair a bit.
Mai's blush deepened. Mori blushed too. He was mentally kicking himself for showing such familiarity that fast.
DING! DING! DING!
Mai looked up as she heard a bell toll somewhere.
"Ah. It's late." Mori said as he stood up and offered his hand out to Mai.
Mai accepted his hand, blushing as Mori awkwardly entwined his with hers.
"Mmh, let's go somewhere, shall we?" Mori asked, smiling sheepishly at her.
Someone entered the same room Mai and Mori had been in and he silently closed the door after him.
He rested his fingers on the piano and whispered, "Well done, my good friend. You have once again succeeded into bring to young hearts together."
With that, Tamaki Souh smiled and sat himself down on the seat where Mai and Mori had sat in and played the piano into the night.
