Knowing Adolescents

You'd never go on a hunt without adequate protection, would you?"
"No, sir," answered Dean, puzzled by his father's left-field question.
"Well, being with a girl is the same," said John, tossing a pharmacy bag in Dean's direction.
Given his father's scowl, Dean decided against a salt'n'burn quip.
"So no more angry parents calling me about pregnancy scares?"
"Wait, is this about that waitress?"
"No... Katy... your lab partner?" said John, sensing the conversation was getting away from him.
Dean turned to his brother, as the gangly adolescent slouched into the room. "Better speak to Sammy then, she's his girlfriend."

Sam winced at the pull of his stitches as he settled back on the sofa. The television droned on in the background; some documentary he was only half-watching.
"The adolescent phase can be tumultuous given the physical and physiological changes. The surge of hormones can lead to an increased aggressiveness, and early maturing boys are more likely to be sexually active and engage in risk taking behavior."
The door smashed open as a grinning, disheveled Dean stumbled in. "Oopshhh, shorry 'bout that," he slurred, before passing out.
"Don't worry, Dean. Apparently it's just a phase you're going through," Sam smirked.
