A/N
A rather short and pointless Namiku written completely out of the blue as I slaved over my next chapter for Love Letter (almost done thank goodness!). Not as well written as Heartbeat but whatever.
Ehhh...when I say 'melts', please understand that I don't mean it in the literal sense. You know, like melting like a snowman? Although I guess everyone has different perceptions, when I say 'melts' I mean like the warm and fuzzy feeling you get inside like after that certain special someone smiles at you? Sorry if I confused anyone!
Warning: I apologize for any OOC' ness!
Disclaimer: There's no way I own Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. I do not make any profit from this. I'm simply using them for my own sick and twisted purposes.

When the snow begins to fall, it reminds him. The ways to freeze are as numerous as snowflakes.
Kairi blows her vermillion bangs out of her face, shivering despite the goose down of armor she currently dons. She isn't accustomed to the cold having been an inhabitant of Destiny Islands all her life. But despite her attire, Kairi isn't the one Riku's worried about.
Riku looks on with a mask of indifference painted on his face when his eyes meet Namine's across the frosty tundra; The blonde glances away quickly, cornflower blue irises lowering to stare blankly ahead, rubbing her own arms in a vain attempt to gain some warmth. Her light blue jacket had been donated to the cause of keeping Kairi safe, keeping Kairi warm, and instead Namine takes the brunt of the cold. Her face is red, and frost glitters in clumps on the edges of her downcast eyelashes; frost or escaped tears, Riku can only guess.
Namine stands off to the side by herself, colorless and almost lifeless amidst the frost and ice, completely and utterly alone.
Alone.
Riku knows if Namine is left to suffer through the bitter cold of winter a second longer she will slowly but surely freeze to death, in every true sense of the word.
Despite himself, and much to the chagrin of Sora and Kairi, Riku trudges through the snow, silvery hair blending in with the white scenery as he approaches her, hands buried deep in his pockets. Namine shivers but says nothing when Riku comes to a halt, standing beside her in silence. Riku merely crouches, tracing patterns in the snow.
Riku remembers: once upon a time, Namine already froze for him once. It seems to be his curse that the people he meets lives fall apart after meeting him. And Riku believes in curses.
Out of the corner of his eye, Riku notes the light flush creeping across Namine's cheeks as she turns to gaze upon him with a touch of awe, biting her chapped lips listlessly. Namine opens her mouth to say something but immediately snaps it shut and instead says nothing, settling for simply gazing at the ground wordlessly. She shivers.
Riku wonders if he should leave now, run for her life, but it's plain as day that Namine is freezing. And to freeze alone is a different matter altogether.
Riku whirls to his feet, crossing the final distance.
Namine squeaks.
He pulls her into his embrace, his arms coming to wrap around her much smaller, lithe form, Namine remaining stiff like a board in his grip as she allows her arms to hang lifelessly by her sides. Namine blushes when Riku buries his face in the crook of her neck, breathing in her soft, clean scent.
Cursed or not, to stay apart forever is another kind of freezing.
A gust of icy wind blows past and, slowly but ever-so slowly Namine's arms rise to return the embrace, exalting a soft, sweet sigh. Riku smiles.
. . . and, Namine melts.
