Castiel kneeled for what seemed like eternity on the cold hard concrete floor. He stared down at the bloody wound before him, both his hands pushing hard against the torn flesh, trying their hardest to stop the bleeding. He could hear his heart begin to beat faster and faster, his knees getting weak. As he realized that there was no way to stop the blood, tears began to fall endlessly from his restless eyes.

"Cas?"

A faint voice came from the wounded human below him. Castiel turned his eyes towards the human's face.

"Dean." Castiel's voice shook as the word escaped his mouth. He moved one of his bloody hands over towards Dean's face and tucked it under his head, lifting it up off the cold hard concrete floor beneath them.

"Cas, what happene-"

"Dean, don't worry. I'm here. You're going to be okay." Castiel immediately replied. He tried to replace the shakiness of his voice with love and confidence, at least enough to convince Dean that everything wasn't as bad as it actually was.

You're going to be okay. You're going to be okay.

Castiel kept whispering those words to himself over and over again. It wasn't just Dean he was trying to convince, but himself, too. He knew he couldn't…he wouldn't live without Dean. Dean was his everything, the one he looked after and loved endlessly. He wasn't going to let him go. Not yet.

He could feel Dean's body getting cold and limp and he tried to press harder on his wounded chest. He turned back towards Dean's face, all bloody and beaten. Their eyes locked for what seemed forever, both agitated but full of emotion. Castiel tried to look brave, but he was just as scared as Dean was.

"Cas, I…I'm not going to make it, am I?" Dean whispered, his mouth hardly moving as he spoke. Castiel's heart dropped into his stomach when he knew that Dean had given up hope.

"No, Dean, it's going to be okay. I'm here…I won't let you go…" Castiel said. His lips began to quiver as he finished talking, tears rushing out of his eyes once again. Dean looked up into his eyes, seeing the pain Castiel had. Once again, they locked eye contact. Castiel could see the pain in Dean's eyes as well.

"I'm here Dean. I won't leave you. I promise." Castiel cooed, snot taking his eyes off of the human.

"Cas, I…I…love…"

Dean's eyelids slowly slid down over his eyes, a tear escaping one last time. His mouth lay open, about to finish a vital sentence. Castiel's throat began to itch and sting. He tried to hold in his emotions, tried to tell himself that there's still hope.

"Dean, no. C'mon Dean, you can't…you can't…Dean!" Castiel yelled his name in agony, unable to believe what happened. His body went limp and his hands fell to his side as he dropped his head onto Dean's chest. Castiel's throat began to burn and his chest began to crunch up in pain as he sobbed. His cries grew ever louder as the realization of what had happened to the one person he truly loved sunk into Castiel's now broken heart.

"Dean…dean…." He kept repeating. His lips twitched as they mouthed his name over and over again.

"Dean…"

"Dean…"

"Dean…"
