Bra's Gift

Bra held the scissors carefully. With a deep look of concentration she slowly cut a jagged shape out of the construction paper. Everything must be perfect. No mistakes, no holes. The table in front of her was littered with her previous attempts. The designs, while quite good for a child of her age, were, in her eyes, imperfect. And Bra must have perfection. After a few minutes Bra finished the cutting and held the shape up to the light critically. It was good. Just the right shape. Bra sighed with satisfaction and took out her crayons; the special sparkly ones mother had given her for Christmas. She picked the brightest colors she could find and started to draw patterns on her creation. A while later, Bra held her finished creation out for inspection. 'There. A perfect crown for Daddy' she thought. Maybe if Daddy liked her crown he would stop being mad at her. Bra blinked back tears as she thought about what had happened. She had wandered into her father's training room and started playing with the buttons on one of the machines. Daddy had caught her in the room and yelled a whole lot and sent her to her room. Bra had never seen her father look so angry before, at least not at her. She hoped the crown would make him love her again. Just then there was a knock at Bra's door. She opened it to reveal her Daddy. Vegeta looked down at his daughter's tear-stained face and felt a little guilty for the way he had yelled at her. But she had scared him badly. If she had accidentally pressed the wrong button on the Gravitron she could have been seriously hurt.

"You may come out of your room now."

Bra held her present shyly out to the Prince of the Saiyajins.

"I made you something so you wouldn't be mad at me anymore. It's a crown. So everyone will know that you are a Prince."

Vegeta took the crown and looked at his daughter with shock. He could not say a word. Bra looked worried at his silence.

"Don't you like it Papa?

"It's beautiful, princess. But I wasn't mad at you. I was just scared."

Bra's eyes grew wide.

"Scared?"

Anything that could scare her Papa must be very terrifying indeed. She crawled into his arms for protection from the scary thing. Vegeta held his daughter tightly as if he would never let her go again.

"I just didn't want you to get hurt Bra. I don't think I could stand it if anything ever happened to you. Do you understand?"

"Umm hhnn."

Bra didn't understand. But from the way her Daddy was holding her she could tell that he wasn't mad at her anymore. And that was all that mattered. Vegeta released his daughter and stood up.

"Come on kid. Let's go bug your mother for some food."

"Wait Daddy! Aren't you gonna wear your crown?"

Vegeta looked at the crown and then at his daughter's hopeful face. He sighed.

"Oh all right. I'll wear the crown. But you have to make yourself one too. A princess needs a crown."

Bra clapped her hands excitedly.

"I'll make us all crowns!"

Vegeta smiled (yes a real smile and not a smirk).

"Later. Dinner's almost ready."

And they left the room; Vegeta with a crown on his head and Bra with a smile on her face.

Well that was it. Did it suck? Do you want more? Tell me what you think. Konbanwa kiddies.
