I don't own Watashi ni xx shinasai

"Akira-kun, why do you do that?"

"Do what?"

"I don't know. You just… keep glaring at everyone who passes by."

"Well…"

"I don't mind if you observe them or anything… you kind of look scary when you glare."

"Mm!" The cousins sat there on the top of the hill underneath a cherry blossom tree that was in full bloom. The boy nervously kept glancing at the people who walked by, anxious about being with his cousin that he admired. The two children were almost completely opposite of each other. The girl was dark haired and had a cold icy aura around her that didn't seem to affect her cousin, a sweet boy with light grey hair. But, like they say, opposites attract.

"Yukina-chan, one day, I'll grow up big and strong to protect you from all the bad people in the world!" Yukina turned away.

"I don't need you to protect me." But she had small smile, full of the innocence of a child.

"Shigure would make an interesting character…" Yukina thought aloud. Akira smiled at her, his platinum blond hair covering most of his face. His smile shone though radiantly though. "It's rare that someone has caught your eye though." He responded. Akira was happy for her, Yukina was finally getting the inspiration she had been waiting for, but he was tremendously jealous. He was all that she needed right? She shouldn't need to look at anyone else but him... "You know, Akira-kun. I'm thinking of writing a romance this time."

"What?" The look of horror on his face was overlooked, as Yukina couldn't see too clearly with his hair in her way. "Why?"

"Well, my rating has gone down and readers want to see love between the characters and I cannot lose to anyone. I'm going to make Shigure help me."

That was how their high school years were spent. Yukina at one point went out with Shigure, but they eventually went their separate ways with no hard feelings. Shigure got married to Mami after they got out of college. Yukina was still waiting for her own happily ever after ending.

"Coming!" Yukina called. She rinsed her face and cursed at her red puffy eyes, and tied up her long hair with a red ribbon. "Hello?" She opened the door to come face to face with her cousin. "Akira-kun!"

"Hey Yukina-chan." He looked over her, noticing her swollen eyes. "I heard." Oh. That guy was going to pay for making her cry.

"It's not like we ever really had anything." It sounded more like she was trying to convince herself than her cousin.

"You liked him?"

"It doesn't matter if the feeling isn't mutual."

"But you're more important." Akira clasped her hands in his. He stared into her eyes, shame there was a pair of glasses in the way. "I don't mind as long as Yukina-chan is happy. I'll protect you remember? You won't need to cry anymore. I'll make you happy instead of him."

"Akira-kun! You know we're cousins?"

"Why should that matter?" Akira hugged her, squeezing her lightly. "I don't care. I'll protect you." She buried her face into his shoulder, realizing he had grown taller.

"As long as you don't let go."

"Then I won't."

And together, they lived happily ever after. The end.
