"Is their something you would like to tell me?" Mariza asked drawing her attention.
"No" the young mermaid responded as she returned her attention to her instructor.
"I am used to more expression and participation from you. Recently you have been more distance, more distracted. What has been on your mind?"
"Nothing."
"Well, when you are ready to talk about then I am willing to listen. Until then try and pay attention to your lessons." Mariza responded.
Leaving Mako had been hard for the pod. For Neppy it had been harder been harder than most of the others. Leading her to return when an opportunity presented itself. A decision resulting exposing her to a world she had never experienced, a danger she was not ready for.
Those with knowledge of the events had decided to keep the what she had done a secret. Believing that events the young mermaids experienced during her returning to Mako had eliminated any desire within her to want to return. That and they worried that if knowledge of it the events became known they would be forced to return to the pod. Forced to give up on ever returning to Mako.
In truth Neppy couldn't stop thinking about what her experiences. A whole new world had opened for her. Feeding her desire to return until, not long after she had returned to the pod she began her plans to return once again.
Returning yet again would be more difficult. Ondina and the others had returned to Mako. If she was discovered they would once again send her back to the pod. Probably watched constantly so she could never return. One person she may be able to trust was Zac. He had done things against the wishes of the pod in the past. He had rescued her once. If she could convince him to let her stay he could keep the others from sending her back.
