A/N: This was written for a prompt challenge i am doing with my friends... but i thought i would post it here anyway, and see what people think. It is my first attempt at a silent witness fic. I also haven't seen alot of the show, so i hope it is ok.
Disclaimer: Don't own Silent Witness. Wish so much that i did though...
"You ok?" Harry asked as she walked down the corridor, obviously deep in thought. She hadn't heard him, or decided to ignore him and continued to walk down the corridor. Harry ran after her, apologising to the numerous people the he bumped into.
"Niki" he tried again. She was oblivious to him calling her name as she travelled down the corridor. She reached the door and waled out of the building. Harry got to the doors just before they closed and pushed them open before making his way outside after her.
He raced in front of her and stood in her way so that she couldn't ignore him this time. He could see she had been crying.
"Harry" she said, generally surprised to see him there.
"What's wrong?" Niki motioned to him to follow her, and they walked to a nearby park, sitting on the bench.
"Why do we do this?"
Harry looked confused "what do you mean?"
"I mean… this job, why do we do it?"
"Where did this come from?" he asked.
"My mother, she keeps asking me why I do a job like I do… and I can't help but feel she is right. Oh, I juts feel so lost. Without the job I have nothing, but what do I get from the job?"
"You find answers for people who don't have them." Harry said simply. "And, you have friends"
"What? Leo?" she asked oblivious to what he meant.
"No. Me"
Niki looked up and looked at him properly for the first time since they had started working together. "You?"
"Yes" he replied not looking at her. "Niki, despite what your mother may say to you, there is a lot more to the job… You don't need to feel so lost" he stood up and walked away leaving Niki to her thoughts.
He was right. She didn't need to feel so lost. She stood up and ran after him.
