A/N: This is just a silly little one shot that I wrote to get back into the habit of writing again.
Pink Tea
Patrick Jane sat on his favourite, if only slightly lumpy couch at CBI headquarters enjoying the morning breeze that was blowing through the window, a nice contrast to the warm, sunny day. He held his cup of tea delicately and inhaled the sweet sent. It was a new blend, one he was eager to try when it cooled down enough to drink. In the meantime he was simply enjoying the breeze and aroma….
"Jane, is that tea pink?"
His eyes travelled from the cup to find Lisbon looking down at him, amused expression on her face. He merely shrugged his shoulders in response.
"You're drinking pink tea out of a floral tea cup, seriously?"
"It's very healthy Lisbon, you should try it sometime"
"Ug, no thank you"
She strode away and he rolled his eyes before lifting the cup to his lips but just as he was about to take a sip he was interrupted by Rigsby.
"Is that pink tea, dude seriously"
Vanpelt, having heard a slight commotion walked over from her desk and looked in the cup, finding that it was indeed very pink.
"That a new blend?" she asked.
"Yes, its Raspberry, Strawberry and Logan Berry"
"Sounds nice"
Vanpelt turned and walked back to her desk, grabbing the doughnut out of Rigsby's mouth and throwing it in the bin as she went, causing a loud protest from said agent.
When all was quiet again Jane took a sip of tea, finding it to be quite delicious but slightly cold. He hummed slightly just as Cho walked over, causing him to look at Jane. He looked from Jane to the cup and back to Jane again before shrugging his shoulders and walking off, his face remaining expressionless the whole time. That was one thing you could always count on with Cho, he would always be the same.
Jane gently took another sip of tea, savouring the flavours on his tongue and letting it roll gently down his throat. His calm moment was of course shattered once again, this time by Minelli who looked at the cup then at Jane before a smile tugged at the corner of his lips. Jane could practically see the comebacks floating around his head but ever respectful he kept walking only allowing the smile to break free once he was in his office.
Jane sighed, realising he was never going to get a moments peace. He took another sip of tea just as a loud bang erupted from the elevators, vibrating off the walls. Jane got up just as Lisbon came running past and the two collided, Jane just managing to catch the cup before it fell. However the same could not be said for the tea, which was now dripping down Jane's white shirt in a pool of pink. Lisbon, who had somehow managed not to get a drop on herself broke out into laughter, much to Jane's annoyance.
"All I wanted was a cup of tea in peace!" he said, huffing before walking away, everyone's laughter echoing in his wake.
It wasn't until later on that he had found out the noise had come from the coroner, who had dropped a box of files as he was getting out the elevator. By this time Jane had been hollered up in the attic for the better part of the day, glowering in the corner. He had only gotten the one tea bag…
