Dom stepped out of the door to the ballroom into the courtyard, and looked around for a seat that wasn't taken by affectionate lovers. The perfume of the roses was overpowering, and made him slightly dizzy. He finally found a bench with only one occupant, and deciding that he would meet this lone lady.

"What happened to your ladies, Sergeant Domitan?" He jumped. It was Kel.

"The killings at Giantkiller were horrific. How could they not leave anyone alive?"

"I don't know how they could manage that." said Dom.

"Was there someone special you lost?"

"No, I lost a lot of friends and I love a lot of people, but only one person is enough for me to look all over the world for, and that lady breaks my heart every time I look at her. "

"Why is that?"

"Because I am one of her many admirers. She does not notice my humble love and unfailing attention" Dom sighed. "Kel, is there someone YOU would spend the rest of your life with?"

"There is, but every time I turn around he is with a different lady. He is the only one who can see my true feelings."

"And why is it that he will not notice your efforts?"

"Maybe because he is blinded by influence."

"Being gullible is too common in our time."

Kel was silent for a moment, before speaking. "Then make me a promise; promise me that you'll tell that lady that you love her, and love her with all your heart. Promise me that."

"Only if you promise me that you'll tell the man that you love him. And tell him today."

"Only if he admits love for me first."

"Fine. Kel, I love you. With all my heart, you are the world to me. Your smile brightens my day when the rain clouds are looming overheard. Your voice is what keeps my heart beating, and the sound is sweeter than any lady I have known. So I make this promise; I love you."

The degree of warmth in his eyes made Kel believe him."

"Dom, you are so sweet. I'm sorry if I broke your heart, I never meant it. So I'm sorry, but I don't like you."

"So who is this man you spoke of?"

Kel sighed, exasperated. "Dom, I don't like you." She took a breath. "I love you."

And with that, Dom pressed his lips to Kel's, and immediately responded by wrapping her arms around his neck, and burying her hands in his hair. He slid his arms around her waist, pulling her tighter to his body, not letting her escape...
