Hello all! This is just a short vignette, so to speak, of a day at the Green Dragon. I found this written on a banged up piece of paper and decided to post it as a little spot of humor. Just so you know, I "am" Sarah Took, Pippin's sister, Kelly is Sam's sister, and Jamie is supposed to be Frodo's sister. (The three of us were young and naive to think we could BE related to the wonderful hobbits, but hey! Its all in good fun!)

also, Middle-earth and all its real inhabitants belong to whoever owns JRR Tolkien rights, but DAMN they prolly have a lot of money!

A Typical Day at the Green Dragon...

Pippin and Merry were in the Green Dragon, sipping their ale….ok…perhaps they weren't sipping their drinks. Actually, they were having a drinking contest. Two, if you wanted to get technical. How fast can you drink and how much can you hold?

Merry, being the more experienced drinker, was winning the latter contest, but not one person in Hobbiton could bet against Pippin in a speed drinking contest. This is why, when Kelly Gamgee and Sarah Took walked into the pub, Merry was nursing his sixth pint and Pippin was dancing around like a fool. Across from Merry were about fifteen empty mugs.

"Oh Brother," Sarah muttered. "Meriadoc Brandybuck! You numbskull! You don't challenge MYbrother to a drinking contest. Look at him!" She cried. Merry looked at Pippin, standing on top of the bar singing a wretched rendition of 'The Bath Song' and chuckled. He loved watching Pip make a fool of himself in front of Sarah. She was the elder, and felt like she needed to look after him. Sarah looked to Kelly, but she was not next to her anymore. Her best friend was climbing onto the bar, grabbing a half-pint on her way up, and taking Pip's arm.

"Oh thank goodness. Pippin was…" she trailed off as Kelly started up the drinking song with Pippin. She looked at Merry.

"She's got it bad, doesn't she?" he asked. Sarah nodded. Merry glanced up at Kelly and the drunken Pippin and said, "Well, they've got a lot in common. They're perfect for each other, even though Pip is too darn drunk to notice!"

"You're tellin' me! Too bad Jamie isn't here. Then maybe Kelly'd be good."

"Where is she, by the way?" Merry asked. He'd been surprised when the two had come in without their other third. They were always together.

"It's Sam's day to garden. You figure it out," Sarah said with a smile.

"Ahh! I see," Merry realized with another chuckle, "Sam's prolly already finished the garden, but Jamie pulled him aside, and they're sitting there, staring dumbly in each other's eyes!" he laughed.

"That's exactly how I last saw them!" As she replied, the door to the Dragon opened and Frodo walked in. Sarah sighed, knowing that it would never happen. Merry eyed her sadly, and then called his cousin over.

"Frodo! Hoy! We're over here!" Frodo saw them and smiled. He walked over and sat down, pointing to Pippin and the now tipsy Kelly.

"Have I missed something? What's going on?" he asked, laughing. Sarah looked at Frodo.

"Your silly excuse of a cousin is making a plain fool of himself in front of the Shire again, Frodo! AND, he's dragging my best friend down with him!"

Horrible, I know, but it was so funny to come across. Btw, this is dedicated to my real best friend, Kelly (gee, see that coming?)
