Rachel sighed and continued to shift in her seat and pound her head into her clasped hands. What was she going to do? Sure, cutting up all those credit cards had felt refreshing and liberating, especially since Monica and all her friends had been there, chanting her on.
She wasn't sure what she thought of them all yet. She had known Monica and Ross since high school, even though she didn't know the latter one all too well. Chandler had a sarcastic defense mechanism that was for sure. Joey was a flirt. And Phoebe…Phoebe was just plain weird, even if her intentions were good.
Never had she had a group of friends like these before. Actually, she wasn't really sure if she could call them friends. After all, they had only really known each other for a day and half. But she had never felt such support from her other friends. She was popular in high school, but she never bullied anyone with it and her money. At least, she hadn't meant to. Her friends had always really been shallow, when she looked back and thought of them. Well, except for Monica, but she realized guiltily that she had sometimes (okay, most of the time) left Monica behind in the dust.
She hadn't realized how bad her life had gotten to her solely depending on her father for her money. She was a 24 year old woman, for Pete's sake! One who had graduated college, at that! Rachel Green made her mind then and there: No more would she ever rely on anyone else's money. She would get up off her butt, get a job, and make her own way in the world. That made her feel better.
