This is a re-write of some of the episodes from Glee season 5 starting with the Quarterback. It's not a total rewrite, just some changes I felt would be good – i.e. songs that I think should have been done, scenes that I imagined happened off-screen, and characters that should have been in it are going to make appearances.

The Quarterback

"The show must go...all over the place...or something" – Finn Hudson, 1994-2013

The lights came up on the auditorium, where the New Directions- Kitty, Marley, Jake, Ryder, and Unique- were all standing in black. As the music began, the rest of the glee club- Blaine, Sam, Tina, Artie, Sugar and Joe- all filed onto the stage beside their team mates. Then the alumni, excluding Rachel and Finn, came out onto stage, all dressed in black.

GLEE!

The afternoon after Mercedes sung 'I'll Stand By You' in Glee club, the club met again, where they sat and spoke about Finn before Mr Schue got there.

"Okay guys, do any of you want to sing anything?" Mr Schue asked as he walked in. "I think it's probably best if we just get straight into the lesson."

"Mr Schue, I'd like to sing something." Quinn said, standing up and walking to the centre of the floor. "This was the song we sang back when everyone found out I was pregnant. Finn supported me so much back then. It's hard to believe that its' been only 3 years since that happened, and now I'm standing here, about to sing it as a tribute to him. Finn was more than just a friend to me. He was my first love, and no matter how many times we broke up or got back together and broke up again, in a way, I never stopped loving him. And always will." Quinn said, tears falling as she spoke.

As Quinn finished singing, she was bawling her eyes out, like she did the last time they sung that song. But this time, she had a more significant reason to be depressed. She felt like her heart had been ripped out. If that's how bad she felt, she didn't want to even think about how Rachel was feeling. The New(and Old Directions) gathered around Quinn hugging her while Mr Schue stood there, watching his kids hurting.

"That was beautiful Quinn, thank you" Kurt said, smiling sadly.

GLEE!

After Sam and Artie sang 'Fire and Rain', Quinn Fabray and Santana walked down the hall towards Finn's memorial, where Tina's weird assistant Dottie was standing holding her IPad, dressed in her new Cheerios garb.

"Hey Santana, Hey Quinn. Shouldn't you with Tina in Glee club? I don't mean to pry, but I had Tina mourning in song with the Glee club until 10.45 and the earliest." Dottie said shyly.

"We had to get out of there." Santana said sadly.

"Yeah, it felt like my head was going to explode." Quinn added. Just then, three cheerios, including new head-bitch Bree walked up and started blowing out the candles that were up.

"Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey! What the HELL do you think you're doing?" Santana barked at the African-American girl.

"Principal Sylvester told us the candles have to go. She said she got a call from the Fire Marshall"

"You cannot let her do this" Quinn said, looking at Figgins who was standing there looking like he was crying.

"He's the janitor."

"New Santana Lopez is right Old Santana Lopez and Quinn Fabray. Under the tyrannical jag-boot of Sylvester Regime, I am powerless. And I'm too overcome with Finn Hudson related grief to fight back" Figgins said, looking even more pathetic than ever before.

"Okay! This is INSANE!" Quinn yelled, storming down the hall.

"Crap! Quinn!" Santana yelled after her friend.

"Well Donna, One of us farted, and I'm about 60% sure it wasn't me!"

"You have NO right to take down that memorial!" Quinn said storming into the office.

"As a matter of fact I do Younger Me! I allowed that memorial to remain in the hallway for over a week."

"Oh, PLEASE! You wanted that memorial gone because you're such a cold hearted Bitch!"

"What did you just call me?" Sue asked.

"I called you a miserable self-centred BITCH! One who has spent every waking minute of the last three years trying to make our lives miserable! I am officially OVER it!"

"I don't care about your attitude Q!" Sue said calmly.

"I don't give a HOT WET MONKEYS ASS what you care for! You are not my Principal, You are not my Coach anymore! You see, I don't go here anymore Sue and that means I can finally tell you EXACTLY what I think of you! I have HATED you ever since the day I met you! You are a horrible person who never had a nice word to say about Finn Hudson! SO DON'T YOU DARE THINK FOR A SECOND THAT HE DIDN'T HATE YOU TOO!" Quinn yelled at her former-cheerleading coach.

"I would choose my next few words very carefully if I were you!" Sue warned.

"Or what? Are you gonna expel us?" Santana asked as she walked up to Quinn, having witnessed the whole altercation.

"Great Sandbags joins the party! I don't have time for this. Now both of you, GET THE HELL OUT MY OFFICE!" Sue barked at the girls.

"Why don't you make us get the hell out of your office?" Santana said, stepping in front of Quinn, standing toe to toe with Sue.

"DONNA CALL THE POLICE!" Sue yelled to her secretary.

"DONNA YOU PICK UP THAT PHONE I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL SHOVE MY FOOT SO FAR UP-" Santana threatened the poor woman at the desk.

"THAT'S ASSAULT!" Sue roared.

"No, THIS is assault!" Santana said, turning around pushing Sue into the filing cabinet. As soon as she did it, Santana instantly regretted doing it. She and Sue stared at each other for a second, then Santana turned and looked at Quinn who looked like she had just seen a ghost. The pair of former cheerios turned and left the office.

GLEE!

The glee club sat in the Auditorium with Mike, Brittany, Kurt and Mercedes. They were sitting around in a circle, waiting for Marley, Unique, Kitty, Jake and Ryder to sing.

"Okay, so we've talking a lot since yesterday, and the five of us decided that this would be the best song to sing under the circumstances." Kitty said, being nicer than she had ever been.

"We know we hadn't known Finn as long as the rest of you, but we loved him like he was our family" Marley said, wiping a tear away as she spoke.

"He helped me with my dyslexia-"Ryder said solemnly.

"He helped us all." Jake said, smiling sadly.

"This one's for you, Finn." Unique said as the music began.

(All: No, no, no, no)

The whole group in auditorium were crying softly as the group finished their number.

"That was great guys. Finn would have loved it" Kurt said, grinning at the five sophomores.

"He should've been here to hear it" Marley said, breaking down and curling into Jake's chest.

"I think he was Mar," Mercedes said, rubbing the brunette girl's shoulder. "He'll always be in this auditorium. This is where he was at his happiest. "

"It's where he felt at home. Where his and Rachel's love was born. He'll always be here watching over the Glee club." Kurt said, smiling as Blaine rubbed his back.

GLEE!

Unique sat quietly in the auditorium alone, after everyone had left. She felt that she didn't deserve to feel as upset as she did over Finn's death. She sat there, sobbing quietly when the door opened and she heard footsteps coming towards her. She looked up and saw Ryder walking towards the centre of the stage.

"Ryder. What are you doing back here?" Unique asked, wiping her tears away.

"I forgot my backpack. Are you okay?" He said sitting down beside the distraught girl.

"Oh. I better get to class." Unique said, getting up to make her way out the doors.

"Wait. We need to talk." Ryder said softly.

"Do we have to do this now?" Unique said sadly "I'm not really feeling up for arguing"

"I don't want an argument. But we've put this off for a month and a half now Unique. I came back to Glee club, I've tried to forgive you for the whole Katie thing but I can't really move on because I don't know why you did it!" Ryder said, sounding quite angry, but trying to remain calm.

"I've told you why. I know I'm not your vision of beauty. I hadn't felt that close to anyone in so long without the whole Unique thing getting in the way. I reached out to you because I liked you, and I got the picture of the blonde girl to make you like me back, and then you started telling me things and it got too deep to stop. But all the stories, all the jokes, the connection that we had, that was all me. And that was all real. I didn't do it to hurt you. And I'm sorry I let it get as far as it did, but I really fell for you Ryder. I didn't want to lose what we had."

"We didn't have anything Unique. But I think, in hindsight of everything that's happened this month, I'm willing to give our friendship another try." Ryder said standing up and walking to the transgender girl. "What'd you say?"

"I'd really like that." Unique said, starting to cry, and she hugged Ryder for the first time since Regionals.

GLEE!

Kurt sat in the auditorium after Santana went to Nurse Penny's office. He sat on the stage and thought about his brother. He remembered when Finn sang "I'll Stand By You" back in sophomore year. He remembered that first rehearsal when Finn and Rachel sang "You're The One That I Want" and Finn got a little crept out at Rachel, and then Mercedes took that hissy fit saying "she was no damn Kelly Rowland, She was Beyonce". That made Kurt laugh. But then he remembered one of the saddest moments in his young life. He was at the diner where he, Rachel and Santana work, and his phone rang but he couldn't answer it, so Santana took the call. It was Burt to tell him about Finn. Santana had went and told Gunther what had happened before she told Kurt. Rachel wasn't working, her shift hadn't started yet. So Santana sat him down and told him what Burt had told her. He and Santana then had to go and tell Rachel. It was the most surreal moment of his life- everything felt like it was in slow motion.

"You should sing something you know." Kurt heard a voice from behind him. He stood up and turned around.

"Sam. Hi." Kurt said, faking a smile.

"Don't try to hide your hurt, I totally get it. But of everyone in Glee club, you of all people need to sing something. He was your brother." Sam said sweetly.

"I wouldn't even know what to sing." Kurt said, tears filling his eyes.

"Why don't you just sing from the heart. I have my guitar, I'll just follow your lead." Sam said smiling sadly. Kurt nodded and took to the centre of the stage.

Slipped Away By Avril Lavigne

Performed by Kurt Hummel

Na na, na na na, na na

I miss you, miss you so bad

I don't forget you, oh it's so sad

I hope you can hear me

I remember it clearly

The day you slipped away

Was the day I found it won't be the same

Oh

Na na na na na na na

I didn't get around to kiss you

Goodbye on the hand

I wish that I could see you again

I know that I can't

Oh

I hope you can hear me cause I remember it clearly

The day you slipped away

Was the day I found it won't be the same

Oh

I had my wake up

Won't you wake up

I keep asking why

And I can't take it

It wasn't fake

It happened, you passed by

Now you are gone, now you are gone

There you go, there you go

Somewhere I can't bring you back

Now you are gone, now you are gone

There you go, there you go,

Somewhere you're not coming back

The day you slipped away

Was the day I found it won't be the same no..

The day you slipped away

Was the day that I found it won't be the same oh...

Na na, na na na, na na

I miss you

Kurt ended the song on his knees, tears streaming down his face as the words he was singing really sunk in. He looked back at Sam, who sat his guitar down and ran to the crying boy. Kurt had never felt so alone before.

"It'll be alright buddy, you'll be fine." Sam said, hugging Kurt tight.

GLEE!

The New Directions walked down the hall, holding a set of drum sticks each to put in front of Finn's memorial. One at a time they set them down. Blaine, Sam, Tina, Artie, and the rest of the Glee club. It wasn't the most significant thing, but they all knew it meant something. Kitty was the last person to sit hers down. When she stood up, she looked at Marley and said "This is sort of cheesy"

Then they heard a voice. Full of pain, heartbreak, and desperation to regain what was lost. Rachel's voice. "No. It's beautiful" The glee club turned around and saw Rachel standing there. Her arms linked with Kurt and Quinn. She looked down at the memorial and smiled weakly "I just had to see it!"

GLEE!

As the school bell rang, acknowledging the end of the school day, Rachel stood in the choir room, in front of everyone. She didn't know the Newer kids very well, having only met them at Grease and at the failed wedding on Valentine's day, but she knew that Finn had touched every single one of them, just as he touched every person he met.

"Nobody treat me with kid gloves, okay? I don't know what to say either." Rachel said, then her voice began to tremble. But she pulled it together. Or tried to at least. "I loved Finn, and…" She started but got more choked up as she spoke. "…And he loved me, and he loved all you guys. I know he did." She took a deep breath. "Finn and I sung together a lot…" She began to break down fully now, as she remembered all the good times she had with Finn. "And before Finn, I used to sing alone… I was the annoying little Jewish girl who nobody liked, and Finn changed that…He changed me…" She tried to regain composure but she knew it was useless. She looked at all the faces of the people in the choir room. Mercedes, Marley and Tina were barely holding it together. But she had to be strong. For them. And for Finn. "…And, um…I can't believe I'm never going to sing with him ever again. I loved Finn, he was my everything. So this is for him." The piano started slowly. Rachel closed her eyes and felt the music. The memories of Finn and this song.

Faithfully by Journey

Performed by Rachel Berry

Highway run

Into the midnight sun

Wheels go round and round

You're on my mind

Restless hearts

Sleep alone tonight

Sending all my love

Along the wire

They say that the road

Ain't no place to start a family

Right down the line

It's been you and me

And lovin' a music man

Ain't always what it's supposed to be

Oh, girl, you stand by me

I'm forever yours

Faithfully

Circus life

Under the big top world

We all need the clowns

To make us smile

Through space and time

Always another show

Wondering where I am

Lost without you

And being apart

Ain't easy on this love affair

Two strangers learn to fall in love again

I get the joy of rediscovering you

Oh, girl, you stand by me

I'm forever yours

Faithfully

Whooa, oh-oh-ooh

Whooa, oh-oh-ooh, oh

Whooa, oh-oh-oh, oh-whoooooa-oh

Faithfully

I'm still yours

I'm forever yours

Ever yours

Faithfully

As Rachel sung, everyone broke down. They saw her pain, her heartache, and it only made theirs greater.

"Thank you Mr Schue, we really needed to do this." Rachel said, as Kurt, Quinn, Mercedes and Santana came up beside her and hugged her. "And I've got an idea of how to make this memorial week really special. Everyone, come to the auditorium in 10 minutes."

"Mike, Puck, Britt, come with us just now, she'll explain on the way." Santana said, as the rest of them filed out the choir room.

GLEE!

"Okay, guys, I guess you're wondering why I asked you all here. Well you're the New New directions. And when Finn died, it officially ended ours. He was our leader. Our Quarterback." Rachel sobbed out the last part.

"So as a rite of passage, you need to sing the song that defined us." Kurt said, smiling solemnly, remembering every single time they sung this song.

"You guys have a lot to live up to-" Santana started

"-But we know you can do it." Mercedes finished.

"Wanna know how we know you can do it?" Mike asked. The glee club all asked why in unison.

"Because Finn believed in you. He knew what every single person on that stage is capable of. He was so proud of you. Make us just as proud." Rachel said, wiping her tears away, and hugging tightly into Kurt's side.

"So guys, take it away" Puck said as the music started playing behind the kids that stood on stage.
