Enjoy :)

Across the white picnic table on the porch of the Big House, Percy Jackson locked eyes with Annabeth Chase. Her words faded out, unimportant compared to the look in Percy's sea-green eyes. He leaned in slightly, with a mischievous grin and a peculiar expression she couldnt exactly name.

Annabeth had to remind herself how to breathe. It was just Percy. Her best friend Percy. Why was she acting this way?

They stared at each other, a gray storm meeting a green ocean. And right then, Annabeth was overcome with the intense, overwhelming desire to kiss Percy Jackson. She wanted to feel those lips kiss her back. The shine in his eyes, the curve of his smile, the smell of his hair, all so appealing. Too appealing, Annabeth wasn't sure she would be able to control her self much longer.

Seductive, that's what he looked like. It was almost a seductive face.

Oh gods.

Percy smiled wider and leaned closer. By now, Annabeth Chase had given up on breathing. He bit his lip ever so slightly then opened his mouth to say something.

"Annabeth?" he said softly, unsure, "can I… Ask you something?"

Not trusting her self to open her mouth in fear that she wouldn't be able to stop herself from slamming it into Percy's, Annabeth nodded.

Percy paused and the world was quiet.

"do you-"
Oh gods he was going to ask if he could kiss her. Yes. Annabeth had been waiting for this moment for so long. But she was nervous. What if she messed up. Where does the nose go. Oh gods why couldn't she get a grip on herself.
"-want some marmalade smoothie?"

Percy shoved a glass of the very drink in between their faces with an eager sort of puppy dog look.

Annabeth gaped at him, jaw dropped, blatantly shocked.

She must have looked quite alarming because the Son of the Sea God actually recoiled. He put the marmalade smoothie down on the table. "Uhh, Annabeth?" he said with the same sort of tone he would use to calm down a rabid dog, "you alright there, Wise Girl?"

She twitched. Marmalade. The look on his face. The way he leaned in. His soft voice. The almost seductive look. Annabeth had been sure he was going to kiss her. And then he shoves marmalade up her nose. Gods she was stupid. He wouldn't kiss her.

She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. Her shock turned into a scowl.

He wouldn't kiss her, they were just friends.

She put her hands on the table and stood up. "No, Percy Jackson," she half growled, "I do not want some marmalade." And with that she grabbed her book, smacked him playfully (but not that playfully. She wanted it to hurt a bit) on the head with it, jumped off the Big House porch and stalked off in a huff mumbling things about where exactly she would like to stuff 'Percy's marmalade' leaving the green eyed boy thoroughly confused.

He watched her go, still completely unsure of what exactly he did wrong. After she disappeared through the trees, Percy Jackson reached for the sole glass of marmalade on the table. From his jacket pocket he produced two short straws and placed them in the glass, one angled to him the other to Annabeth's empty chair. He gazed at them sadly.

Percy sipped slowly and decided, right then, that women are crazy.

End

A/N: So I wrote this one because my friend and I were talking about words we need to use in fics. I said marmalade. She laughed and was skeptical over whether I could put it in a fic.

I must say proving people wrong is a great motivator. I wrote this in ten minutes :)

Oh and if any of you are craving a Percy/Jason fight fic I made one a while ago before the cover came out, if you're interested it's called 'Sea and Sky'.

*promotes*

Thanks!

Gnight :)
