Her hair was still changing through all the shades of blue. Anyone who knew her could tell she felt like she was dying inside. Blue, the colour of sadness, her emotions showing through her hair, it was tough to miss.
The tough thing about this was she'd known, of course she had, she'd just pretended it wasn't there. It explained the true reason he would go out with her in the first place, she remembered how hesitant he had been. Even when they started going out, he hadn't been happy, she could tell, but for her own sake, she had again pretended it wasn't there.
She began remembering all the times it had been so obvious and she had just turned it away, as if it was nothing. Now that she thought about it, there hadn't been a time when the chemistry between the two hadn't shown. Even at school she could tell something was going on. The way they looked at each other, to anyone else it could be innocent day dreaming, but she knew them better than to so foolishly believe that. The way the black haired boy would always get jealous and whine 'Mooooony I need your amazingness for my potions homework!' whenever Remus ignored him for too long. It was clearly a lie; everyone knew that of all the things Sirius Black was good at, potions class was definitely one of them. He was the only person to beat Remus on a test and he was definitely proud of it.
Tonks sighed as she remembered the quirks her favorite cousin had and at how suddenly lonely she felt. Remus had never been hers, always Sirius's. 'The Blacks always get what they want' she muttered to herself.
She knew she had to leave, she couldn't do this to Remus anymore, he needed to be alone or with Sirius, and Sirius... he was gone. As she got up and walked towards Remus's bedroom, (they didn't even sleep in the same room anymore, how had she not seen this falling apart?) she heard a muffled sobbing and immediately pictured the destroyed face she had seen Remus wear that night in the Department of Mysteries when he had seen his best friend, his lover, his other half killed. The loss he experienced that night changed everything, he would always avoid her, stay in his room, never wore that quirky smile she'd always loved. No, she knew there was no getting old Remus back, the only Remus that was left was the one sat alone in his room trying to his cries. Instead of intruding of the werewolf's grief, she went to her room, took out a notepad and pen and wrote him a letter explaining why she had to leave and she knew he wanted her to go, he had never wanted her there in the first place.
Once she had silently packed up all her stuff, she walked back to his bedroom and placed a small, wooden photo frame by his door with a picture of him and Sirius on graduation day, they were laughing together and Sirius was jumping around to get Remus's full attention. She smiled. Then, she walked back to the front door, hair blue as ever, and gave the house one last look before walking out into the rain, where no one could tell the difference between the rain drops that fell from the sky and the tears that were pouring down her face.
