Mamma Mia!

LAY ALL YOUR LOVE ON ME

A Sky and Sophie one-shot fic. This is just how I think Sophie and Sky's first meeting would have gone, and is a story of how they first got together. Enjoy! xo

The hot sun burned down on the Island of Kalokairi, as Sophie Sheridan picked up her third load of laundry that morning. It was June, one of the busiest months for her and her Mother, they both ran a small inn on the island, called Villa Donna, named after Sophie's mother, and June was always a busy time. The hot weather, and endless blue skies attracted people from all over the world, and Sophie got to meet some really interesting people, yet still she felt something was missing.

She was only 18 years old, her whole life ahead of her, but still Sophie wished she had something more. Someone. She knew she was young, but each time she saw a young couple book into one of the rooms at the villa, her heart ached for someone to love her like that.

"Soph, I'm just popping out for some milk, we're nearly all out. You okay to take care of things for a while?" Donna asked, grabbing her car keys from the kitchen counter.

Sophie shook herself out of her daydream, and turned to face her mother, "Sure, sure." She smiled.

"Okay, well I shouldn't be too long. If anyone wants to book a room, there's about five available upstairs, so just ask them which they'd prefer", she kissed her daughter on the forehead and left.

Sophie made her way back to the reception area of the villa and decided to distract herself by going through last seasons bookings. She was interrupted a few minutes later by a customer ringing the bell on the front desk. She looked up to find a tanned, dark haired, incredibly good-looking guy. He was probably about 5"9, Sophie guessed, taller than her to say the least. She hadn't even heard him come in. Realising she hadn't even talked yet, she cleared her throat.

"Ummm, hello," She smiled, she cleared her throat once more, "May I help you?" What was it about this guy? She was always confident and bubbly around the customers, yet for some reason his presence was making her feel unusually nervous.

"Hi there, I'd like to book a room. That is, if you have any available?" He asked politely. He was British, English to be precise, with a very strong Colin Firth-like London accent. He'd just doubled in Sophie's good books. Sophie's two best friends, Ali and Lisa were both British, Sophie loved to visit them, and whenever she did, she concluded she liked British guys alot more than American guys.

"Uh, sure, sure. Let me just check," Sophie flicked through the pages of the book. What was she doing? There were five rooms available upstairs, why didn't she just tell him that. "I mean no!"

"No?" He raised his eyebrows, "Are you all booked up?"

"No. I meant umm, no I don't need to check. Sorry," she took a breath, "I'm very unorganised today,"

"It's okay," he laughed.

"Why don't you follow me? I'll show you our available rooms, and you can pick which you like best,".

"Whatever you say," he smiled, and picked up his one suitcase.

Sophie crossed the courtyard with the English guy following straight behind her. Think of something to say, think of something to say, she told herself. "So, Kalokairi," She finally said. "How are you finding it so far?"

"Extremely pleasant, it's nice to escape, London weather isn't exactly my idea of a good time," He joked.

Sophie laughed in reply, "You're travelling kind of light for a vacation. Are you here with someone else?" She asked. Oh God! Was that too personal? That made her sound like some crazy girl, who wanted to know if he had a girlfriend like five seconds after they'd met.

"No, I'm by myself. Kind of like a self reward, I've just finished Uni," he explained.

"Oh, congratulations. Oxford or Cambridge?"

"Neither," He laughed, "I wish, but no. Just a small one in London. But it was good enough for me. After working so much for three years I thought I needed a break, and I saw something about Greek islands on TV, Kalokairi really stood out, and I heard from a friend how good your villa is. I can see I'm going to like it here,".

Sophie blushed, "Thank you. I'm Sophie by the way," She held out her hand for him to shake.

"Nice to meet you, Sophie. I'm Sky," he shook back. Great handshake, Sophie noted. "Sky. I like that name," she smiled.

"Not many people do. I think my parents wanted something unusual, but it's okay. Are these the rooms?" He asked.

Sophie turned away from Sky, realising that they had reached the rooms. "Yeah, here we are. They're five in a row just down this hall, take your pick," she gestured with her hands. She watched as Sky peered into each room, finally deciding on the fourth.

"Thank you for making me feel so welcome," he said, gratefully, "You don't find many places like this in the world. Some homely, yet so unique. I hope you don't mind my asking, but I was wondering if you'd like to go out sometime on my stay? I don't know the island very well, and was hoping maybe you wouldn't mind showing me sometime? Unless you're busy, of course."

"It'd be my pleasure," Sophie replied. "In fact I've got all of tomorrow off, how do you feel about me showing you around then? That would then give you the rest of your vacation to yourself."

"Tomorrow sounds good," he smiled, "Oh, and Sophie?"

"Yes?"

"Who says I want the rest of my holiday to myself?" He winked and then closed the door.

Wow. Was all Sophie could think.

The following morning Sophie woke up to the feeling of butterflies overtaking her stomach. She'd hardly slept at all last night, with the feeling of spending the entire day with Sky making her burst with excitement. She felt ridiculous at the same time of course, she hardly knew this guy, yet she felt like she could possibly marry him. She didn't know what it was about him, but he was definietly special.

"You seem happy today," Donna noted, "Got any plans?"

"Actually I do," Sophie knew her Mother would be surprised by this. The downside to living in Kalokairi was that she was thousands of miles from her best friends, it also made it harder for Sophie to find friends on the island. Sure, tourists would come and go, but it wasn't the same.

"With whom?" Donna asked, her eyebrow raised.

"Just this guy," Sophie answered, although after answering she quickly realised this was completely the wrong thing to say, as her Mother's expression changed drastically.

"Whoa, what guy?" Donna asked, her hand raised in the air like she was ordering Sophie to stop.

"Mom, I'm eighteen," Sophie said rolling her eyes. Being a single parent meant Donna was often overprotective.

"Sophie,"

"Okay, his name's Sky and he's from England. And he's staying upstairs at the moment. We're meeting at eleven so he'll be down any minute."

"Okay, that's all I ask. I just want to make sure you're safe honey, that's all."

"I am safe, Mom. I know this island backwards, don't worry yourself," she hugged her Mom goodbye, and before leaving the door she shouted, "And don't you dare wait up! I'll spill everything tomorrow!"

"You better!" Donna laughed, and reached for the phone, realising she hadn't contacted Tanya and Rosie in a while.

"Sky! Hey!" Sophie smiled running up to meet him. "Sorry, am I late?"

"Right on time," he said back. "So, how are you?" He asked, as they made their way out from Villa Donna to the main parts of Kalokairi.

"I'm great thank you," Crap, stop being so scary-nice, she told herself, just act normal. "How are you? Was the room okay?"

"The room was great, thank you. I swear, it's an amazing place you and your Mother run. You should think about doing more advertising with it. You know, putting yourself online, really set off the business." he suggested.

"Oh, I don't know about that. Mom's not exactly a computer whizz, and I'm not sure we'd be able to handle too many people."

"I think you'd cope fine," he smiled, Sophie beamed at him. There was definietly something there. Some sort of chemistry burning between them. This was only their second meeting, but already Sophie felt liked she'd known Sky her entire life. His charisma, the whole sense about him, made her feel safe, he somehow made her feel she belonged. "Do tell me about yourself," he said, breaking her bubble of thought.

"Oh, well there's not much to tell," Sophie laughed. "I've lived here, practically my entire life. Though, we do go to the States quite a bit, hence my accent. I went to England for a year when I was sixteen to study drama, but it didn't go as planned. I realised my life is here, my Mom needs me." Sophie sighed.

"But do you need her?" Sky questioned.

"What do you mean? She's my Mother, I can't just leave her. I-" Sophie stopped, she didn't need to defend herself to Sky. They'd only just met.

"Look, I'm not putting you or your Mum down. All I'm saying is, if you're not happy here, if this isn't how you want your life to go, then you should make a change. Your Mum would understand eventually."

"Well, it doesn't matter. Cus I am happy here, and.. that's all that matters." Sophie took a breath, "So what do you wanna do today?" She asked.

"Well, what should one find in Kalokairi?" He asked.

"We could rent a boat. I could show you the island properly that way. You know, we could go for a swim, do some cliff diving. Whatever you want,"

"Sounds perfect."

Sophie and Sky had been sailing on the boat for over two hours when Sophie finally decided they should come to a stop.

"I know we've just met. And this is gonna sound extremely hasty. In fact, I'm not sure I should even say this at all in case you judge me, or get weirded out by me, or something like that."

Sky laughed, "I promise I won't get 'weirded out by you'," He mocked her, teasingly.

She nudged him and continued, "It's just that, from that second I first saw you, you caught me off guard. I don't know what it is, but you make me feel happy, excited, like there's hope in the future. You're a complete stranger in some ways, but in others I feel," she stopped, she shouldn't say this. They hadn't even known each other a day, yet. "I feel like, you could potentially be my soulmate." Sophie sighed, "Sorry if that freaks you out. But it's the truth. I like you Sky. I like you, alot. And I know that I shouldn't get too attached. Because you'll be gone in two weeks, but I don't wanna part from you, however I know that if I continue to hang out with you that my likeness will just grow, and I'll end up getting hurt." She looked down, not wanting to see his reaction.

Sky moved towards Sophie. "Come on," he grabbed her hand and lead her to the edge of the boat.

"What are you doing?" she panicked, "I know I probably just freaked you out, but is killing me really the answer?" Sophie squeled.

"What? Soph, I'm not gonna kill you, you numpty! We're gonna jump!" He laughed.

"Oh, okay."

"Ready?" he asked, grabbing her hand securely, making Sophie's heard leap.

"As I'll ever be."

The pair of them jumped and swap side by side to the shore. Sky leapt out of the freezing water first, helping Sophie out second.

"Where are we?" He asked.

"Oh my God," Sophie replied.

"What?"

"We're here. My favourite place on the entire Island." Sophie looked around smiling at her surroundings. The pair of them were on a beach, a deserted beach, with rocks surrounding them. "When I was little, I'd come here for some peace, or if I'd had an argument with my Mom, I'd sit here til it got dark. I love it here, it's just so.."

"Peaceful," Sky finished her sentence for her.

Sophie nodded in agreement. Sky moved closer to her, he was dripping wet, the water soaking through his t-shirt revealing his worked out body. "About what you said. You didn't freak me out. I've felt it too," he confessed. "Sophie, you're special. I hope you know that. And I've been waiting all day for this."

"For what?" She asked, confused.

"This," he whispered, as he pulled her to him and kissed her. Kissed her in the most gentle way a guy had ever kissed her before, but still deep with passion, and possibly even love.

Sophie pulled away. "What's wrong?" Sky asked, "I thought.."

"No, I like you. Alot, Sky, you know I do. But I'm not sure I can do this. I mean, all it will end up being is a two week fling and I don't want that, you know? Okay, I'm eighteen, but I want a relationship. I'm tired of being on my own, and-"

"Sophie," he held her face in his hands, "Who said I'm going anywhere?" And once more they kissed again. The whole beach to themselves, with only the sounds of the waves thrusting against the rocks to interrupt them. "Lay all your love on me," Sophie whispered in his ear, as they exchanged further smiles.

Authors Note; That was my first Mamma Mia! fic, and I'm not sure if I like it or not, I've had a lot of writer's block so I don't think this was my best fic at all really. It's an idea I've had in my head since I first saw the movie (and I've seen it ALOT). And I just loved Sky (and Sophie) alot that I wanted to imagine what they're relationship/meeting would have been like. So let me know your thoughts. xo
