Okay, so randomly one night I had this inspiration to write a poem. Random, I know. Then I wanted to do a KarlaxBartre because I was working on a writing piece with Bartre in it. So a couple of minutes (and some sugar) later, I came up with this. I had the title idea before (BeautyKarla, BeastBartre), but had no idea what to do with it. (Yes, it's a Disney movie title and I luv the movie. I am not taking any originality credit from Disney. I wouldn't dream of it!) So I decided to post it, even though it is a product of no sleep and sugar, because it came out rather cute. Well, I think so at least. (But that doesn't mean anything considering I've still garnered no sleep.) Anyway, my ranting aside, I hope you enjoy! (Just in case: the italicized words are Karla's thoughts, the plain text signifies Bartre's thoughs, and the bolded words are thoughts shared by both Karla and Bartre.)

Beauty and the Beast

When I first saw you…

I saw a strong yet ignorant man.

I saw a beautiful, lean woman.

You thought I held my brother's sword,

You gazed at the arena's board,

When indeed it was mine to wield.

Your name and mine shared the same field.

How surprised you were, to learn of true skill

You were the fine creature I had to kill?

Coming from one who you thought nothing of…

I thought I heard Her scolding me above.

No one thought of me, as I was told.

Bartre, a beast, would mar you for gold?

I went onto the field and readied my stance.

Your skill, alas, held me in a baffling trance.

I watched you saunter out fearlessly as well.

Years of practice attested it, I could tell.

All strength and brawn, as far as I could see.

The final blow was near, me on my knee.

But, oh, how wrong, how wrong I was.

All I heard was the viewers' buzz…

Strength, you have, brawn, no doubt.

You saved me, me, this lout.

And, yes, intelligence wasn't your strongest suit.

The Beast lost to a woman, I couldn't rebut.

However, you made up for that in heart.

Later on, you told me, "I love you, Bartre."

And I have loved you ever since.
