Ok, so i first started this story 2 years ago and for some reason never finished it. Mainly down to getting major block and not being happy with what i was writing. I've since restarted it and only have one more chapter to go. I'm keeping it short.

For those who have read before, thank you for reading and i apologise it's taken so long to finish. You've all left some great reviews which have shaped how i've re-written it. The chapters are slightly different to before.

Please remember this is based on the film and Norse Mythology, not the comics. I haven't read those and wouldn't do them justice. I was interested in flipping the movie and putting Loki in Thor's position, giving him a chance to shine, without all the mischief he is famous for. Out of the shadow of the Mighty Thor can he be just normal? It's my own version of events and in no way reflects the film.

As always the characters (with the exception of the ones on Midgard) are not my own and belong to the Marvel Universe.

Prologue

His feet tread lightly across the snow dusted floor, leaving soft footprints in their wake; the cold air closing tightly around him. The corridor he walked along was high and shining, constructed of bricks that resembled ice; perhaps it was ice, there was no telling and he certainly wasn't going to reach out and feel. There was no roof; instead the elements ran wild around him, biting at his face and making him wince. This was no place for an Asgardian, its cold and hostile walkways devoid of life, light and warmth. He pulled his heavy cloak tighter around him and quickened his pace, his destination mere moments away. He knew this was the night his life would change forever.

The corridor gave way to slippery looking stairs, shining menacingly at him in the moonlight that streamed through the vast, open roof. He paused a moment, reaching out a foot and testing the surface. It wasn't icy, the heavy dusting of snow on top providing a blanket of safety for him to travel on. One after the other his feet climbed the stairs; he didn't feel a part of the scene, his mind worlds away. This was it, there was no going back.

Along another corridor he walked, this one even larger than the last and many degrees colder; his breath ran in front of him in a long, white stream. On and on he walked, until he could go no farther. He dared himself to look up, he was there. In front of him was an impressive looking structure carved from stalactites and stalagmites. It was a throne and it took up the entirety of the cavernous area he found himself in. Atop it, looking dwarfed by the entire structure, sat the King of the Frost Giants, his great red eyes surveying the scene before him.

"You're late" he grunted, turning to him, his pointed face full of menace. All of his hairs stood on end as the enormous man leant forward, fixing his eyes onto his.

"I can only apologise. It was not quite as easy to get here as I had hoped" he bowed his head, hoping this explanation would be enough. It seemed to suffice; the giant grunted and looked away.

"You have come here with regards to the offer I made you?"

He nodded, daring not to look the Jotun in the face, hoping he would not see how unsure he was of his decision.

"I will do it Laufey, but only if you keep your end of the bargain"

"If it means the artefact of my people retuned to its rightful place, I would ensure that you ruled over a hundred kingdoms!"

"Then it is done. I will ensure Odin falls into an Odinsleep deeper than any he has encountered before; I will make sure of it. He will not be roused by man nor god! At Thor's coronation I will steal your precious artefact and as Odin sleeps your opportunity for war will present itself".

"I will give you further instructions closer to the time. Know that if you betray me, I will have your life!"

Laufey waved his hand in dismissal, turning away from him. This was it, there was no way out now; a deal with a Frost Giant was not easily broken. He turned and walked away from the jagged throne. He had a month; a month to figure out how to sneak a Jotun into Asgard, steal his world's most guarded treasure and not get caught in the process. He bowed his head and let a sigh escape his chest. This was not going to be easy.
