"Grandma?" A ten year old Teddy Lupin asked "Can you help me pack my trunk?"
"Sure thing sweetie" Andromeda replied
"Grandma" Teddy muttered as the two walked back through the lounge and up the stairs "Don't call me that"
"Sorry Teddy" Andromeda said, laughing slightly
"I'm goin to Hogwarts next week!" Teddy added, bouncing up the stairs while an ageing Andromeda followed slowly, using the banister for help. The age between the two was massive but the love they shared was irreplaceable. After his parents had died, Andromeda had sworn to give Teddy the best childhood possible.
Suddenly there was a crash from upstairs and Teddy started to cry. Oh no, Andromeda thought as she hurried up the stairs to the screaming Teddy. Andromeda gasped at what she saw. Teddy was on the floor screaming. Boxes and boxes of what looked like junk were cluttered around him. Andromeda looked up and saw the old, rickety ladder to the attic had swung open, spewing its contents onto the floor, hitting Teddy. Andromeda rushed to teddy and hugged him in her arms, calming him down.
When Teddy was okay again, Andromeda looked around at the debris and started to pack random objects that had fallen out of boxes back again.
"Grandma?" Teddy asked bringing Andromeda from her self-conscious packing of objects. "What's this?"
Andromeda's head snapped up as she saw what Teddy was holding.
"Oh, nothing dear, just an old photo album. Nothing important" Andromeda stuttered, shoving the album back into one of the boxes. With a flourish she took out her wand and muttered a spell. Teddy stood back and watched as the boxes magically floated back up into the loft. As soon as they were all back in the loft, Andromeda shut the trap-door and turned away from Teddy, walking down the hall and taking the stairs faster than any grandmother should take.
Teddy stood there staring up at the loft. He peered down the hall and smiled a cheeky smile. Andromeda had gone back into the kitchen. Teddy reached up, slowly and steadily, and pulled the ladder down. Quietly, he stepped onto the creaky steps
"Please don't creak" He begged as he climbed up into the loft. The loft was dark and damp and Teddy was unsure which box. He looked around and selected one he guessed his grandma had put the forbidden album inside. He heaved himself into the dusty attic and coughed, swatting dust out of his way as he crawled to the box. He dipped his hand inside the box until he felt something that felt like an album. He pulled it out and smiled. Yes! He pried the heavy, leather, black book open and looked at the first image. He almost screamed at what he saw. He quickly flicked through the other images, tears pouring from his eyes. His grandmother had lied to him. Lied!
Eventually, he slammed the book shut and threw it across the room, smashing an old antique. Now he understood why Andromeda had hidden the book. Teddy shuffled away from the album, and wished Hogwarts would come sooner...
