Dio found himself seated in a chair beside a crackling fireplace. Looking to his right on a small table beside the chair was a wine glass full of a dark red liquid. Strange. This is my castle in Windknight's Lot. I'm not supposed to be here. Outside of the room he could hear yelling. The memory of what had happened in his castle crawled back to him. It was possible that the events of that time were being replayed outside of his line of sight.
"Dio!" The screaming of his name seemed to come from far off, deeper in the depths of the castle.
"It's rude to scream someone's name," he muttered narrowing his eyes. As much as he wanted to move from the chair for some reason he could not.
"Dio!" The scream increased in volume and drew closer. It repeated three more times before a whisper at his side sighed,
"Dio." Shocked, Dio looked over at the table where the wine glass had been. Jonathan's severed head sat on it staring at him with solemn, blue eyes. The image of his castle shattered around him and after it completely fell away he found himself floating in an abyss. Jonathan's head rose and the rest of his body appeared. Along with him a light began to shine dimly behind his back.
"Jojo!"
"Don't you remember the ship, Dio?" Asked Jonathan his face devoid of the anger and ingenuous looks Dio had been so used to seeing. Again Dio's memories came crawling back the dream-like state he was experiencing making it hard to concentrate on anything. He remembered the coffin, the fire, and finally stealing Jonathan's body just as the ship was about to explode.
"Then what is this?" At Dio's sign of confusion a sad smile crossed over Jonathan's face.
"I suppose now that our bodies are joined our spirits will be fighting for control over it. But without my head I know I will lose. I truly lost to you this time, Dio," murmured Jonathan his face oddly serene. The light behind him grew in strength and formed a doorway. At seeing this an unfamiliar feeling seized Dio causing him to almost choke.
"Jojo! Jojo-"
"I just wish that I could have seen if Erina made it out safely. I'll know soon enough... Farewell my friend." As Jonathan had been talking his body had been receding into the doorway of light. At his last words he was fully engulfed and the doorway shut abruptly leaving Dio alone in the dark.
Once he regained consciousness Dio realized his face was wet. Feeling around the darkness of the coffin he found no leaks in his impenetrable tomb. He felt his face and found the traces of tears. Surprising that even I had some tears left after ridding myself of my humanity, Dio thought to himself. Groping around he found near his chest the head of his rival, Jonathan. He noticed Jonathan's cheeks had finally lost their warmth.
