Author's Note: I slept for about three hours last night, then went to work at 6am. Sometime around noon, this idea came to me. So, forgive the lack of actual plot, this idea was concieved on very little sleep. Its just a little bit of new year's fun. Its a one-shot at the moment, although i guess it has potential for more. I'm not sure. Anyway- Casey and Derek's New year's resolutions. (Ok, so I'm not sure Derek is the type to write out a list of new years resolutions, but you never know.)

Side note: I miss my alerts. What is up with the fanfic bots? I'm really sad about this no alert thing. Sigh. Anyway- enjoy the story.

January 1st 2007.

Casey Macdonald's New Year's Resolutions.

1. Will go out with a guy who is in no way connected to Derek. No more of Derek's friends, or guys Derek approves of or guys Derek bets me I can't get to ask me out. This year guys I date and Derek will be totally separate. Unless-

2. Will find a way to return that shirt of Derek's mom put in my room by accident a few months ago. I will no longer sleep with it under my pillow just because I find the smell comforting in some weird way. I'll just have to buy a scented candle, and stick the shirt back in his room when no one is looking.

3. Will be a better sister to Lizzie. I will stop bossing her around and asking her to spy on Derek for me. I will remember that she is not obligated to relieve the stress of any problem I'm having, and does in fact have a life of her own.

4. Will try and limit my visits to Paul's office to one a week. Unless I'm really, really mad at Derek of course.

5. Will stop tripping, falling, and generally being klutzy.

6. Will not tell Mom how to run her marriage or her household, no matter how crazy things get. I will not meddle or try to control every detail.

7. Will not speak to any of Derek's dates unless forced to. Even then, will keep it as short as possible.

8. Will-

Why are most of these about Derek? This is just pathetic.

8. Will not think about Derek all the time, its not healthy.

January 1st 2007.

Derek's Resolutions for the New Year.

1. Will stop staring at Casey, touching Casey more often than is needed, and thinking thoughts about Casey that require me to take a cold shower.

2. Will not be thrilled on days Casey wear's something tight or low cut.

3. Will look up incest in the dictionary. The exact definition is becoming increasingly important.

4. Will help Edwin get a girl. Or ten.

5. Will spend more time with Marti, but will not let her convince me to dress up like a princess. Again.

6. Will not let Casey talk to any of my dates. Ever. That never goes well.

7. Will stop making my password to things, "Casey" just because its easy to remember and the first thing that pops into my mind, does not make it ok. (See resolutions 1-3)

8. Will not make anymore sad stupid lists that make it seem like I'm obsessed with Casey. I'm not. At all. Of course not. Ok. Clearly, I've lost my mind.
