AN: Continues the Paths of Fate saga. How will Guy of Gisbourne deal with his actions in the Holy Land and what long buried memories from his past will they bring back? Contains alcoholism and themes which may be disturbing to some readers. I've never really attempted to write Gisbourne before and he is an incredably hard character to write so I hope it is halfway true to him. Funny thing is the finale made me do something I have never done before which is pity Guy. I wanted to write something to explore how his past has shaped him and drives the decisions he makes.

Prologue

Life can be altered forever in a split second: one single action determining the remaining course of a life. Everything we do is a choice is true but it's also so much more complicated than that. For while everything is a choice the choices a person make are determined by their past and what that past has made them into.

Sometimes fate chooses our path for us and we have little say in the manner our lives progress. Sometimes, however, we make our own destiny with the choices we make. Sometimes it's a combination of both and the line between darkness and light, between redemption and eternal damnation, between sanity and madness is so thin as to almost be indistinguishable.
