Summary: I hung up my phone smiling. My hands reached for my purse and my eyes locked toward the door... toward the familiar face holding a gun. Haley-centric.
Full summary: Haley is left with memory-loss due to an selfish act. Will Nathan get her to remember again? Will Lucas, Brooke and Peyton be able to find the attacker? Possible BLP
This idea came to me all at once. I absolutley love my 'mojo' at times. I absolutely love Jamie, so this story is set in season five/six-ish. Slight AU though. I am not going along the Leyton story line. Shudder.
This would be my first OTH major fanfic. I did a OTH one-shot about Laley before when I was in the mood, lol.
To my other loyal readers, I am working on those stories at the moment. Although I don't think any of you enjoy One tree hill so you probably not reading this but heh.
I LOVE REVEIWS. Seriously, I am doing a OTH joint-fic with Monique at the moment (Monnahz) and we like only have four reveiws. Which kind of break my heart because, I love the story and where it's headed. So – if you could please click the blue button, located in the bottom left hand corner once done reading, that'd be awesome.
This chapter is a little short, but next one will be super.
Kait out.
Perfect – just what I needed. Another problem added to my series of collections. Another needle added to the haystack. Another student to tutor. Who can't spell 'Encyclopedia?'
I sigh and look at the clock on the wall. 7:30pm. I couldn't even pick up Jamie from school, and now I can't make dinner for my family of three.
We don't even have a nanny to do that anymore.
Looking back on the desk, I have only three more papers to grade including Miss-I-cant-spell-encyclopedia. Grabbing my pen, I let it float along the paper. Allyson your use of adjectives and similes is excellent. Although your spelling and use of tense is going downhill. Perhaps, I could- I immediately grab the white out marker and erase the note. I am meant to write a comment, not a death wish.
I have too much on my plate to tutor another challenged student. Besides, Allyson has the tendency to pull a tantrum.
I look back at the clock again. 7:32pm. Is it going slower just to piss me off? I really want to get back to Jamie, to ask him about school, to kiss him goodnight. Nathan aswell, to ask him about his comeback, perhaps kiss him all night.
I can practically feel his breath on my neck now. The breath that still gives me goosebumps and makes my heart skip two beats. The breath of the man I have loved for six years.
I smile at my memories, and they make me determined to finish off the last of the work and come home to my two boys. I grab a pen, and the only sound in the room is the scratching of the tip along the paper.
Not for long atleast.
My phone vibrates along the wooden desk sending off the erie sounds that silently echo through-out the room. Checking the caller I.D, I smile at the screen.
"Hey husband." I said happily into the phone, finishing up my last paper.
"Hey wife." He answers. God, I am so loving his voice right now. "Me and Jamie ordered pizza. Held up huh?"
"Pretty much." I hope they didn't order too much pizza. Think of the next dental bills. "I just finished the last paper and heading home."
"Great. We saved you some pizza." So they did order a lot. "More nights like this and who knows, we might become loyal customers to Joe's pizzeria." He jokes. I hope he jokes.
"I hope not. Just stick with the cheese sandwich next time?"
"Oh I can stick with the cheese sandwich..." Nathan starts. I don't like where this is headed. "Except, I don't think Jamie can. He is more hooked on the cheese pizza now."
He laughs into the phone. I think he can practically hear me gapping.
"Kidding." He adds quickly. "He is more into the pepperoni."
"Get him into a pepperoni sandwich then." God, he is five. I can imagine the mothers now. 'I give my Freddy lamb chops and brusell sprouts on Monday nights, and chicken alfredo on Tuesdays. Then him and my husband Fredrick pick from the food list located on the fridge. What do you feed your child, Haley dear?' Oh, Im not usually home for dinner. They just choose off Joe's menu really.
"Sandwiches it is." He says letting out a sigh now. "When will you be home?"
"Relax. Im practically out the door now." Not really. Im still putting things away and in order. I just like him happy.
"Great. I'll see you soon." He says more cheerfully now. "I miss you."
"I miss you too." I do, really. Even if he told me to go to Australia with him to kick-box with kangaroos I'd go with him so I wouldn't miss him so much.
"Love you." He says and hangs up the phone.
I put the phone down happily, excited to get home. My hands reach for my purse and a sudden sound from the door of my classroom grabs my attention.
I drop my purse when I see the familiar face, holding the gun in my direction. The sudden sound was cocking of it, and the familiar face was my worse nightmare.
"Miss James? Your a english teacher right?" His voice still scares me. The deep effect sends tingles up my spine. "Of course you are. Have you read the book, 'The unkindness of Ravens' by Lucas Scott?"
He is playing dumb. Of course I have. I just can't say anything, my throat seems too dried up to speak. "Of course you have. Your a main character."
I watch him walk around the room, the gun lowered to his hip though still pointed into my direction. "I hear he is having trouble with a second-book." What is he talking about? "Let's just say by the end of this, he will have a lot to talk about."
"What are you talking about?" I say. Wow, I said something. I was expecting him to shoot me and I'd be left without a word.
He chuckles. It's a dark chuckle. I don't think it should even be called a chuckle, it's that dark. "I think you know what I'm talking about Haley. I've spent the last four years, withering away... I'm finally back in reality and your not even letting me see Jamie." As if I would. "All those years I was waiting... Waiting for a second chance. You seemed like the type of girl for giving out second chances. Seemed."
"I am." Second sentence. Gee, I'm on a roll. "Your just not the type I should be handing them out to." Third!
He lets out another dark chuckle. I let my eyes close for a moment as the fear begins to overcome me. "When I have a gun pointed at you, I am suddenly the right type."
Hail Mary, full of grace, the lord is with thee. "Too bad I didn't have a gun pointed at you before... It could of gone much more better that way."
Blessed art thou amoung women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus... "Im sorry it had to turn out like this Haley. But you gave me no choice."
Prayer for our sinners, now and at the hour of our death. "Goodbye."
The sound peirces my ears, although it didn't really matter. The sharp growing pain in my stomach only worries me. I let my fingers trail along the wound, feeling the warm liquid flowing from my body.
Jamie. Nathan. Lucas. Brooke. Peyton. Mom. Dad. Taylor. Quinn.
Oh god, it's happening. Save me from the disaster.
My look at my attacker for the last time, he is staring on at me probably shocked I am still standing. Although, anyone would. I am. My vision begins the blur and the dizziness kicks in. I clutch over onto the desk trying to hold myself up.
It doesn't work. I fall to my knees, and his grinning face haunts me.
I finally give in, and I let my face hit the ground, letting the blackness overcome me.
Who ever said praying works, lied.
