Chapter 1 - The Beginning
"Sophi!" my best friend, Amber, called whilst walking across the classroom. "Work with me for the project!"
Our History teacher, Miss Sufferage, had just set the class a homework project about the Ancient Greek gods and goddesses... My all time favourite topic! Anyway, we had to work in pairs and create a presentation about the different gods and goddesses.
Right now, though, it was lunchtime, and I was starving!
"Sure," I replied as Amber reached me and we left to go to the lunch-hall. "We're gonna get top marks for this project! I can feel it in my bones!"
Amber and I sat in a corner of the lunch-hall with the rest of our friends, Jade (Amber's twin sister), Charli (her real name's Charlotte) and Sammi (her real name's Samantha). It was 11:09 AM and we all took out our packed lunches and began to eat.
Miss Sufferage came over and began talking to us about our History project. "Sophi," she said. "I'm sure that your work for this project will have plenty of detail! Remember, though, that quantity doesn't always equal quality!"
I was the only one looking at Miss Sufferage, so I was the first one to realise that something was happening.
See, one second, she was there, and, as soon as my watch showed that it was 11:11 AM, she just... vanished...
"Guys," I began. "Did you just see that?"
"What do you mean, Sophi?" Amber asked. She looked at where Miss Sufferage had been. "Wow, she left fast!" Amber looked around for Miss Sufferage and realised that the rest of the teachers had disappeared, too. "That's weird... Where have all the teachers gone?"
"And all the Year Elevens..." Sammi added. "And some of the Year Tens... It's like everyone over the age of, like, fifteen has disappeared, or something..."
"Well," I grinned. "If they've disappeared, I'm going home!"
"You shouldn't..." Charli warned.
"Yeah," Jade agreed. "What if they come back and you're gone? Then we'll get into trouble because of you!"
I wasn't listening, however, and I left the table and exited the school building at the exit closest to the school gates. I quickly looked around, opened the school gate and slipped through.
