Tsuki: -cries- I don't have a beta-er for this one-shot because Mirb insists that she is too busy creating her manga to help me. -breaks into song- Oh where did you go? I miss you so... Seems like it's been forever since you've been gone! Mirbster (muahaha) please come back!
Summary: History has a funny way of repeating itself.
O
When Scorpius returns home after his first year at Hogwarts, Draco Malfoy takes him aside and makes an effort at learning about his son's school and social life. This was something Draco has no recollections of his father ever doing and he wants better for Scorpius.
The young blond is elated and happily complies to his father's wish. Scorpius informs Draco all about his first year. From his lessons, to his friends and his favorite teachers. But not once does Scorpius mention detention and when Draco inquires, he remains curiously silent.
Throughout Scorpius' many tales, Draco hums his acknowledgment and wonders how long his son can actually speak for. The next words, however, effectively shock Draco.
"Father?" Scorpius questions, gaining Draco's attention. "I do not like Potter."
This statement reminds Draco of many years earlier when his biggest problems had been what brand of hair gel he should be using and Harry Potter.
"Potter?" Draco blinks in surprise, wondering how Scorpius could have possibly met the popular Gryffindor with a hero complex and not to mention, also his old school enemy and rival.
Scorpius nods and finds the need to repeat himself. "Albus Potter. I hate him. He's in my year, though Gryffindor of course. Potter thinks he's better than the lot of us just because his father is the Boy-Who-Lived. He's not even that bloody good, but the teachers all praise him on his Charms work."
Draco has to fight back a sudden unexplainable urge to laugh as his son's flushed, angry expression unlocks memories and draws him back to another time.
"Father?" Scorpius manages to remind him exactly where he is and where he is not.
"What about flying?" Draco finally looks over to his son. "Is he a good flyer?"
And to his immense relief, Scorpius snorts. "Not likely. Potter was afraid to get onto the broom." He looks like he has just indulged in a particularly humorous secret. "Potter's not so perfect after all."
Draco smiles slightly and thinks that perhaps there is no circle of life, following the same pattern, but rather it is shapeless with a multitude of paths to follow in life.
"When I go back after the summer vacations, I am going to be better than Potter at Charms."
Draco smirks and looks down at Scorpius. "I thought that Albus Potter was not any good?"
A flush creeps across Scorpius' pale face. "He's not. But you can still hire the best tutors for me, right father?"
"You're not allowed to do magic outside of Hogwarts as I recall. Am I correct, Scorpius?" He smirks slightly.
And as Draco sits there with his son in his arms, he can't help but think that perhaps history does have a funny way of repeating itself.

Tsuki: Feedback is, as always, appreciated. I'm actually pretty happy with it since this is my first time doing a one-shot. I'm still missing you Mirb! She'll definitely kill me later when she reads this...
