Drabble: 1
Octavian and Rachel
Rachel's POV
As I walked through the Roman camp, I felt a bit anxious.
Sure, I was used to Camp-Half blood now along with all its mythical and dangerous glory now, it was true, but this now Roman camp looked and felt a lot more intimidating and dangerous. Not as homey as the little family like camp I had come accustomed to.
But this didn't deter me from looking around of course.
I wanted to know her way around this place.
As I rounded a corner and strolled down a path leading to what appeared to be a lone stable, I came across a boy.
He looked to be about Percy's age, probably older, but he was scrawny and had thin blond hair.
He paced back and forth, muttering to himself and waved his hands in the air.
"Talking to yourself is the first sign of madness you know" I said.
I smiled as the boy jumped a bit in surprise, then raised my eyebrow as he sneered.
"Ah just a graecus," he scoffed "shouldn't you be down meeting with the others?"
I already didn't like the guy.
"Excuse me, but I'm not Greek" I said, crossing her arms
The boy glared at her.
"You came with the Greek camp" he stated
"Yes I did. But I'm not Greek. I'm mortal" I said simply
"Fantastic," he scoffed "now they're bringing mortals to our camp."
"Well you're not looking like much yourself pipsqueak" I said.
The boy looked outraged. I could practically see the steam billowing out of his ears.
"I will have you know," he cried "I happen to be the Augur of this camp! A descendant of the great God Apollo himself!"
The boy crossed his arms and looked very pleased with himself, probably hoping this would make Rachel get on her knees and beg for his forgiveness or something ridiculous.
Just the thought made Rachel laugh.
The boy's arms fell to his sides in and clenched into fists.
"What are you laughing at?" he snapped
"I'm sorry. It's just, you think you're very high and mighty don't you?" I laughed "I know lots of descendents of Apollo! In fact, I know Apollo!"
"A lowly mortal like yourself know the lord Apollo?!" he cried "Lies!"
"Well of course I know him! I'm his Oracle!" I said
Now he looked shocked.
"Didn't see that coming did you?" I grinned "I suppose I would be your equivalent huh? We both read prophecies, to help our camps"
Rachel usually didn't tease, or try act anything like this. But this boy, she could tell, needed to have his ego downsized majorly.
"We will never be equals!" the boy cried "I have more power than you know!"
"I'm sure that goes for me to buddy." I said "Apollo doesn't like it much when people mess with me. Since his last Oracle got a littleā¦banged up, he's been pretty protective of me"
"I doubt such a great God cares any about such a pathetic being such as yourself" he scoffed "I am the mighty Octavian! I rule this camp"
I raised my eyebrow again "Doesn't seem that way Octavian. Seems like Reyna and Percy run this camp."
Octavian roared with anger and stomped towards me.
"I wouldn't do that-"
I never got to finish
I felt a familiar essence creep into my being, and my body was no longer mine.
"HALT. I am Delphi the legendary Oracle of the God Apollo!"
Octavian's jaw went slack
"It does not matter to me or to the Lord Apollo what your rank may be. No one shall harm this girl under any circumstances! She is the Oracle!"
The strong essence disappeared and I was back in control.
"That's strange," I said, sitting down on the bench behind me "Apollo usually doesn't send Delphi to do the dirty work. Guess he's got to keep silent like the others though"
Octavian was silent, still in shock by what he saw.
I sighed.
"Hey I warned you! Apollo's like an overprotective dad!" I objected
Octavian just sat on the bench next to me and put his head in his hands.
AN: Any thoughts?
I'll post another chapter soon!
