Yugi sat perched on his window sill as he gazed up ahead at the night sky. The stars made of plasma twinkle up ahead as their light shines, adding warmth and serenity throughout the dark blanketed sky. The moon was full and beautiful, emanating a soft glow as it shone down on earth, catching the eyes of onlookers as they witness the beauty that is night.
Yugi, though staring ahead wasn't paying attention as he was deep in his own thoughts. Yugi is a young boy, the age of 16 with a beautiful but petite appearance. Despite his age and gender, he has a small build that to the eye would be noticed as feminine. The boy, though small for his age is full of beauty that girls and even boys swoon over. His eyes are a stunning amethyst that seem to add to his childlike appearance which held nothing but kindness and warmth.
His face held a serene smile as his thoughts were focused on someone.. Someone he loves deeply.
Atemu..
Although Atemu is his name, Yugi calls him Yami as he calls Yugi his Hikari. Yugi is the only one with the honor to give him a nickname which is the same with Yami.
The two are inseparable, always together at school and most of their time after school.
The best of friends.
But that's all they're to Yugi's disappointment.. They're just friends, best friends even. He's glad they share a close bond, however, he want's to be more to Yami.. More than a friend.. More than a best friend.
He wants his Yami to love him the way he loves his darkness.
That's exactly why he's going to tell his best friend his feelings.

The figure snuggled up in the double bed groaned as the morning sun shone through his curtains afore assailing his eyes. He sighed before giving in to the morning rays as he kicked his covers off as he jumped out of bed to start a new day.
After getting ready for school he heads downstairs to be greeted by the mouth-watering smell of pancake. The smell lingered in his nostrils as he made his way into the kitchen. He smiled as he made his entrance. His sister was currently preparing pancakes, flipping them occasionally before deeming them done and scooping them on a plate before she pushed them in front of her brother.
"Eat up little bro" She gave her brother a smile before taking a seat on the opposite side of Yugi. She has long ebony hair that cascades like a waterfall down her back. She has blonde bangs framing her angelic face with amethyst/crimson tips. Her eyes are the same colour as her tips. She poured a glass of orange juice before pushing it towards Yugi.
"Thanks, sis" He gave her a sweet smile as he ate his pancakes at a relatively quick pace.
Amy eyed her brother with a raised eyebrow "Brother, your food isn't going anywhere.. Slow down"
He peered up with pancake hanging out of his mouth "Ehe.. sowwy!" quickly pulling the pancake in his mouth, he picked his now empty plate up before washing it up. Once finished he turned towards his sister and smiled as he took a seat more proximate "I guess I'm nervous."
"Oh?" was her only reply as her interest was piqued. Her baby brother nervous. About what?
He took a deep breath before grinning ear to ear "I'm well.." he gave a nervous chuckle at his sister's intense gaze "You know Yami right? Well, I've finally worked up the courage to ask him out."
"You're kidding?" once he shook his head she grinned "That's great brother, I'm happy you're finally accepting your hearts desire and asking him out."
"Thanks!" He stood up from his seat as did Amy as they stared at each other "I'm really skittish."
She shook her head as she placed a hand on her brother's shoulder "Don't be, the both of you have a strong bond, I'm sure he'd accept and return your feelings" She winked before she ran into the hallway, retrieving both jackets before entering the kitchen. "Here" she gave Yugi his jacket before putting her own on.
"Thank you" He sighed as he placed his jacket on. "I don't know what I'll do if he rejects me."
"Nor do I little bro, however, if such a thing does transpire then we'll get through this together just like always, got that?" She gave Yugi a one arm hug before pulling him towards the door. "Now let's get to school aye? You have a boy to catch, after all!"
Yugi grinned up at his big sister "That I do."

Yugi and Amy arrived at school twenty minutes later. The sun is shining down on the school and bathing the students in warmth. Such a good day to tell the guy he loves about his feelings. Both siblings entered the gates, instantly greeted by the laughter of the students who're enjoying the weather with their friends before the bell signals. The two entered the school grounds, making their way towards a tree to relax and talk until class starts.
"So Yugi.."
Yugi turned towards his sister and gave her a smile "What's up?"
She shrugged as she stared ahead at the teenagers running around "When are you going to ask him?"
She watched as her brother frowned, obviously deep in thought before perking up "I was thinking around lunchtime.. I could get him on his own"
"You don't want an audience" It wasn't a question, it was more of a statement, however, Yugi answered anyway.
"I guess not" He shrugged "I'm anxious as it is, an audience would give me an heart attack."
"I get you" She leaned over to give her brother a hug. "Love is funny huh? It makes you feel all these contradicting emotions."
He nodded sadly "Tell me about it.. God sis, my heart is fluttering in anticipation" he paused before continuing, staring at his sister in the eyes. "I feel like my heart will rise and leap out of my throat if I'm not careful."
"If that happens, we have a problem."
"I know" He grinned as he played with the loose pieces of grass, twirling them around between his finger and thumb. "Are you going to meet me at the front gate after school?"
She shrugged. "Depends, I don't want to be a witness to you and Yami making out on the walk home."
"That wouldn't happen!" He slapped his sister on the arm who laughed at the action.
She looked at her watch before turning her gaze back towards her brother. "We better head off to class little bro, the bell should go off any second."
Yugi nodded and both of them headed towards their class. Yugi headed in a different direction than his sister so he was alone. He was shaking slightly and couldn't understand why. Maybe it was nerves? Once he arrived outside his classroom, he entered and was greeted by half a room full of his fellow classmates. He shrugged before taking a seat at the furthest corner to the back. He sits here mainly because it's right next to the window and the sight is beautiful. It leads to the school garden.. Where they keep flowers and fruit. In the middle is a fairly large pond which contains fish that the school community bought with the savings from a concert last year. The garden is well kept as assigned students look after it daily. The very sight always brought a smile to his face.
He averted his attention towards the door when an all too familiar baritone voice could be heard. His heart fluttered when he locked eyes with crimson. Yami gave Yugi a small smile and a wink before taking a place it his normal seat across from Yugi.
He bowed his head as a silly grin made itself known on his features.. Gods, what Yami does to him.
He always seems to act or look silly when in the presence of his Yami. He seems to constantly make the smaller nervous by his mere presence.
Yugi is in love after all, and who doesn't act silly in front of their crush or secret love?
(Time skip to lunch)
Yugi was at his locker as he put his school books away. He caught sight of a diary and pulled it out before opening it with a small smile on his face. He read the contents, his smile widening with every page. His diary was mostly about Yami and their journey together. How they met.. When they became friends.. Their first time going to each others house. He even noted down when they both gave each other nicknames. He's acting like some crazy school girl in love, writing every single detail about that person.
But he's in love so who cares?
"Hey Yug!"
Yugi closed his diary before placing it back in his locker. He slammed his locker shut before turning towards the voice of his familiar friend. "Hey Joey!" He grinned as Joey grabbed him in a headlock and ruffled his hair. "Off.. Gahh."
"Sorry Lil' buddy!" The blonde looked sheepish before he perked up. "Guess who asked me out?"
Yugi raised an eyebrow at his jumping friend. Who? "I don't kn-" He was cut off by the overexcited blonde.
"Seto!" his face took on a dreamy look which seemed to freak Yugi out. "It was amazin' Yug, moneybags took me ta Burger world an' slipped some kind'ov paper in my burger an' when I was eatin' I saw it!"
"Wow really.. What did you say Joey!?"
Joey rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Well, I kinda told him ta buy me a new burger or I'll reject him cause' he ruined a perfectly good burger..Fuck Yug.. He's the best though cause' he did an' I was like no way in hell am I gonna' let dis' guy go!"
Yugi chuckled awkwardly "Yeah Joey.. He's really nice" he scratched the side of his face before smiling. "Congrats though!"
"Heh.. Yeh, thanks, buddy!" He gave Yugi a thumbs up. "I gotta' go cause' he's waitin' for me, later Yug!" He gave a small wave before sprinting down the corridor, leaving a grinning Yugi to watch his departure in utter amusement.
Yugi decided to head towards the cafeteria, knowing Yami would be in there somewhere. Once outside the cafeteria doors, he opened and entered, greeted by the smell of food that Yugi didn't find appealing. He scanned the area hoping to find the all too familiar head of hair. After a good couple of minutes of searching and not finding him, Yugi frowned. He turned around to make his exit when he bumped into someone, knocking him backwards as he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings. "Ow, Sorry" He rubbed his eyes before glancing upwards. His heart seemed to pick up a few paces as he locked eyes with amused crimson. "Yami?"
Said person nodded as he held a hand out for Yugi to take. Once Yugi obliged and held his hand, Yami pulled him up, placing him on his own two feet. "Hikari, are you ok?"
"I'm fine" He smiled up at Yami who smiled back in return. "Hey.."
"Yeah?"
Yugi moved from one foot to the other in nervousness "I was looking for you."
"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow "I'm here, what's up?"
He glanced at the slightly taller male before chuckling nervously. "I need to ask you something.. Can we.. U-um-"
"Talk in private?" Yami finished.
"Yeah"
He nodded as he took Yugi's hand, exiting the cafeteria as they made their way outside."
Once outside and out of range of the other students Yugi exhaled as he tried to calm his panicking heart.
"What is it little one?"
Yugi blushed at his other nickname before he decided to get it over with. "I.. Y-yami.. I-I'm-"
"Easy Hikari.. Take your time" He placed a hand on the smaller ones shoulder.
Yugi nodded "I.. Yami, I have feelings for you that go beyond friendship and I was hoping that if you felt the same way then maybe we could.. Um, maybe we could take the next step.. You know, be more than friends."
He chanced a glance at Yami's face and what he saw made him freeze. Yami's face held sorrow and also regret.
"Yugi.." He let his arm drop from Yugi's shoulders as it fell limply to his side. "We can't.. I'm sorry." He turned his back towards Yugi, not wanting to see the hurt in his Hikari's angelic eyes.
Yugi heard every word his Yami said.. Every single one seemed to slash his heart leaving him broken and hurt. He gave a teary nod towards Yami's back before walking away with no other words said. His face was held low, showing his rejection. Tears caressed his cheeks as they fell from his eyes like a waterfall. He gave his heart away just for it to be shattered right in front of his eyes.
He entered the school before walking down the corridor with a defeated posture. He would've gone home but he needs to find someone and he knows exactly where she'd be. He wiped his eyes furiously, bidding the tears to go away, however, it was a failed attempt and he soon gave up. Everyone was staring as he made his way down the corridor, but he didn't care, not now. He made his way towards a familiar room before entering. He heard a couple of gasps project throughout the room but again ignored his surroundings. His gaze flickered up slightly before catching sight of the one he came to seek.
He watched his sister walk towards him with a knowing expression on her face. She bowed her head just like her brother before she slung an arm around him and escorted him from the room and down the corridor until they made it out of school.
No one talked as they made their way off the school grounds, no one needed to.
Yugi was breaking at a rapid pace on the inside and if his sister wasn't holding him up then he'd be on his knees sobbing by now.
The clouds soon turned ominous before droplets hit the down-hearted teens. The weather seemed to match Yugi's mood. It was like a projection of what was happening inside the boy.. How his heart is tearing.. How his breathing is seemingly getting heavy like his lungs have stopped responding due to the teens sufferings. Inside his heart lays a storm, a storm in which the teen can't get out of.
His heart cries over the rejection of the broken love.
"Big sis."
Amy let her gaze fall on her brother who's tears seemed to get stronger, his eyes puffy and sore from his constant rubbing. "Yes little bro?" She felt moisture build up in her eyes at her brother's broken expression.
"Get me out of here, let's leave Domino." He choked on a sob that escaped past his lips.
Amy held her brother closer. "As you wish little brother, we'll get through this, don't worry."
He gave a stiff nod in reply as both made their way home.
