Prelude to Twin Suns
Kenobi.
The name had echoed around in his mind for years, at least a decade. He'd once gone mad thinking about it. Thinking about the Jedi that took a piece of his body from him.
Half of his body.
Maul had never known such hate after that day, not even under Sidious' tutelage. Raw anger had fueled him before, had pushed him to complete his tasks. And he'd done well to survive based on that anger.
But hate …
The pure hatred toward that Jedi was driving him to insanity.
Kenobi.
He'd managed to survive the Jedi purge of Order 66. Of course he had. His name was Kenobi, after all. Maul's lifelong tormentor.
The thing that drove Maul mad was that Kenobi had been hiding on that dust ball all along. The hints had been thrown at him before. His stubborn potential ally, Ezra Bridger, had told him as much during the merging of the holocrons.
Twin suns.
How could Maul forget Tatooine?
It was where he'd first fought the Jedi, a "veteran" of sorts called Qui-Gon Jinn. Kenobi's master. That alone was a clue that should've led him straight to the world.
The question was why the old man was rotting away on some desert rock while Jedi such as Bridger fought the Empire.
Perhaps he's been waiting for something. Or someone …
The thought brought a twisted smile to the Zabrak's face.
What if Kenobi was waiting just for him? To finish off what they'd started so many years ago?
To end this … once and for all.
Kenobi had to perish. He had to. If he remained alive, then Maul would not be free. Truly free.
He'd deal with the rest of his enemies later. Or perhaps he'd let the other Jedi rid the galaxy of Sidious and Vader.
Either way, he could not go on without finally killing Obi-Wan Kenobi.
So this was a really short one. This is what I think is going through Maul's head while he heads to Tatooine to face Obi-Wan. Like, right as his ship is in hyperspace or something. Besides this one, I'm still probably going to do a short about Twin Suns after I know what really happens. So long!
