Author's Note~ the scheme to kill Orion, the gigantic hunter, involves
three main characters. Orion, Artemis, the virgin goddess of hunt, and
Apollo, Artemis's brother. the god of prophesy. Sit back and enjoy. My
first Mythological one.
Artemis laughed with a bright glowing smile as she ran through the vibrant forest. Orion chased her in a playful manner. She hid behind a tree. Slyly Orion sneaked around the huge forest tree in which she hid behind and he snatched her. His face glowed and his hair shined.
She fell into his arms, "I think we're done hunting for today."
Orion laughed, "This forest still holds more for us to hunt, does it not?"
"Yes, it does but I fear that Apollo's suspicion is rising. He's such a smothering brother. He believes that I should stay a Virgin for the rest of my life." Artemis sighed as she played with Orion's hair.
Boldly he laughed, "A life without some kind of love is no life at all. Apollo does not rule my life nor shall he rule yours."
"Actually, he does like to mess with human life. I don't want him to harm you." She grinned and started to walk away.
"Artemis!" Orion yelled. "I think he would die before me." he patted his hand on his sachet of arrows that hung on his back.
She goes out of the forest and starts to wonder out near the seashore. Artemis moans when she sees her brother, Apollo, walking towards her. He waves his huge hand and she moves towards him, "hello brother."
"Hello Artemis, hunting again I see." He brought this up in a nonchalant manner.
"Yes" she answered.
Apollo sighed, "I think you go hunting with Orion a little too much. Is there something I should know about?"
She glared at him, "No. We were just hunting."
"Yah. right" he chuckled.
"What? So now I can't even go hunting with a God?" Artemis question vigorously.
"Well, when it's more than hunting. no you can't." Apollo looked out to sea.
Artemis's gaze followed to see something floating in a distance. It was a round circular object that she could not identify from her viewpoint. A sly grin crossed Apollo's mischievous face; "I have a proposition for you, sister."
"Oh really, what?" She asked trying not to sound too interested.
"If you can put an arrow through that floating object, you can continue to go hunting with Orion." His voice stayed smooth.
"Ha. you're on." She answered cunningly. She grabbed her bow and an arrow from her sachet. Then she got into position. Accuracy, she thought to herself with one eye open as she decided where to aim. Her arm pulled back on the wire and the arrow followed. Finally, she let go. The arrow zoomed through the air towards the floating object. When it hit its target, a horrifying scream came out of it.
Artemis sank to the ground with a pain of recognition in her ears. Her victory was not so victorious after all. Apollo, her brother, had tricked her into killing her love. "Orion!" she screamed out of her own mistake.
Apollo just stood there laughing and his mocking words drifted into her ears, "Nice Shot!"
