Just a fic where Tony comforts Ziva. I own nothing!
Ziva sat, her legs pulled tight against her as she silently cried. She knew her actions were unethical and probably borderline crazy, but she needed to get away. She had not acted like this since Franks died. The woman put her head against the wall of the bathroom wishing her tears would stop. She was wrong.
As she cried again, her mind went back to the events that transpired. She had been in charge of bagging and tagging evidence. As she was doing her job, she realized someone had left gloves at the scene. Thinking they were one of the teams, she threw them in the garbage. Later, she found out they were evidence and could have helped solve the case.
The agent was brought from her pity party by the sound of someone knocking. Rolling her eyes, the agent went to unlock the bathroom door.
"What's wrong?" The man in front of her said. Ziva shook her head not wanting to say anything.
"Answer me." He said gently. Quickly, the woman turned her head as fresh tears fell.
"I'm not supposed to cry." She mumbled her voice holding a bit of anger. The man chuckled earning him a death glare before the woman went back to her original spot.
"Don't walk away. What happened? You just left us back there." He told her. She stayed quiet.
Deciding to change tactics, the man said, "I'll let you cool off a little more." Ziva merely nodded as her partner left the room.
Later that night, after everyone left, Tony sat at his seat listening to Ziva type her report. Noticing the woman had finished, he turned off his computer and waited for the right time to ask questions.
"What happened earlier?" Tony asked.
"I'm fine now." She stated.
"You were crying and if I know one thing, it's Ziva David does not cry without a good reason. What happened?" Tony questioned now sitting at his partner's desk.
"It is stupid." Ziva confided. Tony, noticing the familiar diversionary tactic, looked at her.
"Tell me." He said, his tone making her look up at him.
"I messed up at the crime scene earlier." She said.
"Okay." He said wondering if there were more.
"That is it. I messed up." She stated clearly bothered by what had happened earlier.
"Everyone messes up Zi." Tony told her.
"Yes, but at a crime scene? Tony, I do not mess up." Ziva told him.
"Nobody's perfect." He told her.
"I am supposed to be, and I know—"
"No one is perfect." Tony repeated. Ziva sighed.
"I know that. Rationally, I do, but all my life I felt I had to be and it always bothered me I was not."
"Ziva David. You are perfect at so many things. Don't ever think you can't do anything." Tony stated. Ziva smiled softly at him.
"Todah." The agent responded. Tony smiled back.
"Prego." He answered going back to his desk.
"If you need to talk, you know where to find me." He stated grabbing his things. Ziva smiled at him before he made his way to the elevator. Shutting her computer down and grabbing her things, the agent entered the elevator feeling at least a little better.
