When Neville woke up for the second time that morning, he found himself missing he warmth Luna's body had provided the previous night. She hadn't left long ago - that side of the bed was still a bit warm. If he leaned in just a tiny bit closer, he could smell the faint, flowery scent of her shampoo.
He blinked. What was he thinking? It was Luna - more commonly known as Loony - for Merlin's sake! That thought was pushed to the back of his mind as another waft of the fragrance he named "Luna" reached his nostrils.
He breathed it in, and, in that moment, felt perfectly content. Once he let it out, he found himself missing the comfort of her.
Due to the interruption of his sleep at three in the morning, he had been tired after Luna left - at, say, eight - and had promised himself another half hour of sleep. That had evidently turned into two hours, it was ten o'clock!
He rushed from his room.
The next week passed in a blur, the only really clear moments being with Luna. She wasn't in any of his classes, but he drank in her image everyday during breakfast and dinner. Absolute Goddess, it was the only way he could think of to describe her beauty.
He watched the circles under her eyes fade away, and the worry lines on her forehead smooth out. He was glad; she seemed to be getting over the "Crabbe and Goyle incident".
Over the course of that week, spent watching her, Neville experienced what it's like to be smitten with someone. He memorized her habits, knew her class schedule, and thought about her constantly.
He agreed to play spin-the-bottle in the Great Hall that Saturday for just that reason - to stop thinking about her.
Of course, on his turn, the bottle landed on a space in between two other players.
"Ohh, Neville!" exclaimed Dean "It's pointing towards the door, which means that you have to kiss the next person that walks in."
"Even if it's not a girl." added Lavender, another player.
Neville nodded, it would have to do as a distraction.
Two seconds later his "victim" walked in. Luna. Of all the people...
Neville didn't know of someone pushed him, or if it was of his own accord, but he found himself very close to Luna all of a sudden.
Gathering his Gryffindor courage, Neville leaned in, and pressed his lips to the ones of a very confused Luna Lovegood. In front of the entire population of Hogwarts.
She felt perfect. Soft, warm and... just like Luna. He loved it.
When they finally broke apart, Luna had a dreamy look in her eyes "Wow." she whispered "you're a really good kisser!"
