Dedicated to my "daughter," Valerie and her best friend, Patrick Xaybanha (3/30/1989-5/28/2003). Although I don't know you, Patrick, I do hope you rest in peace.

Tom, you won't believe it, but I actually received an A on my potions exam! Aren't you proud of me?
That's great, Virginia! I knew you had it in you!
I couldn't have done it without your help, Tom.

Oh Tom, I don't understand it.
Understand what?
Why Harry always ignore me...
It's because he's blind.
No, who would want to see me? Plain old "Ginny" Weasley.
You're wrong, Virginia. You're beautiful. They just can't appreciate the beauty inside of you.
Thank you, Tom. You're the only one who understands and you always know how to comfort me.

Tom, what happened yesterday?
What do you mean?
I woke up this morning with blood dripping down my robes. All I remember is touching the pages with my hands and talking with you.
I'm not sure, Virginia. But come, I want to see your beautiful face again.

Later that same year, Virginia was located in a large room covered with green drapes; Tom Riddle's sanctuary. She laid on one of the six beds and talked with Tom who laid in the bed next to her. They continued to talk about things that was bothering Virginia. Slowly, Virginia was becoming weaker. She felt tired but she wanted to continue to talk to Tom.
"Virginia, you look tired. Why don't you just sleep?" Tom asked sincerely.
"No," she yawned. "I want to talk to you."
Tom laughed at her reply and stood up from his bed. He walked over to her bedside and brushed stray locks of fiery red hair away from Virginia's face. He tucked her in and brushed his lips against her forehead. He gently rubbed the area where he kissed her and said in a soft voice, "Just sleep, Virginia. We have plenty of time for talking."
Virginia complied and found herself in a deep sleep. The next time she awokened, she was surrounded by a cold and damp atmosphere. She moaned when she felt the headache come at her head-on. She heard footsteps and saw Harry Potter, her former crush, running towards her. She cried when she realized that she was no longer in her and Tom's sanctuary. Then she started mumbling random nonsense that she couldn't decipher.
It was the last time she ever saw or heard from Tom Riddle again. She knew it would only be the last because she saw what Harry Potter did to the diary. She saw the basilisk fang that pierced the black binding.
She lost her one and only friend to Harry Potter.
Her Tom Marvolo Riddle was gone and there was nothing to do to bring him back. All she had were memories of their times together. She felt an ache in her heart for years. Years had passed and she couldn't rid herself of this ache. However, after Percy had died in the war against Voldemort, Hermione said to Virginia, "As long as you have memories with him, he will always be in your heart."
Tom Riddle will always be in her heart. She never thought about that. She felt him too. Inside her heart, she felt the screams of abandonment of parents. She felt the kindness that shined in darkness. She felt it all and she now realized why she sometimes says things that she didn't mean to.
