A/N: Yeah, the series hasn't concluded… I know, it's pretty shocking. Sorry, this was kind of on the fly… Also, after this I'm probably writing a slightly longer one called "Luffy's Crew", and it'll be all over. (Probably.)
Sanji had dreamed of seeing the All Blue for as long as he'd been alive. He believed that it was real—he had to.
But perhaps he was a coward, because somewhere in the back of his mind was a painful, niggling doubt of, What if it doesn't exist?
It accidentally slipped out one night when Luffy had woken up after a nightmare and had come whining to Sanji that he had wanted to drink some hot chocolate.
"That's stupid." Luffy's blunt honesty was almost reassuring as he continued, "All Blue's real. It's your dream, isn't it?"
"It is, but…" Sanji hesitated. Luffy wouldn't understand. A little voice in the back of his head whispered, but he needed to talk to someone so badly, and Luffy… Luffy understood everything. "But what if it's just a pipe dream? What if it's stupid? What if the All Blue isn't real and I'm just chasing something stupid and…"
"I don't get it." Luffy's brow furrowed in concentration as he downed the last of his hot chocolate and held out his cup for a refill. "Why wouldn't the All Blue be real?"
"Because… because nobody's seen it. Nobody's come and told us about it." Sanji accepted Luffy's cup as he shuffled towards the saucepan and poured some more in it. "It's thought of as a myth. Everyone else thinks that it's fake. Everyone else says that my dream is stupid. What if it is? What if the All Blue… what if I…?"
He shook his head as he set down Luffy's cup again.
"Everyone says that the One Piece might not be real." Luffy replied as he stood up and began to rummage the cupboards for some marshmallows. "They say that I'm stupid, that I'm weak, that even if Gol D. Roger wasn't lying, that I'm not strong enough to do it." He finally found the marshmallows and pulled them out happily, before turning to Sanji. "Do you think that what they say is true?" Luffy demanded, his voice harsh and even.
Sanji quickly shook his head. "You're going to be the King of the Pirates." He replied, unwavering in his belief. "They're just stupid. They don't understand, because they don't know you."
Luffy smiled in satisfaction. "Then why are you and the All Blue any different from me and the One Piece?"
"Because… because… Becauseyou're… you. You're Luffy, and you're amazing, and you can do anything…" Sanji shook his head and flushed in embarrassment at his admittance. "I'm different from you."
"Why?" Luffy asked, his voice still eerily calm as he poured the marshmallows into his cup and stirred them with his finger.
"Because…" Sanji shook his head in frustration. "I can't say why…"
"Because there is no difference." Luffy smiled victoriously. "Sanji's dream is the All Blue, so it must be real."
"How can you have such faith?" Sanji asked. "How can you know…?"
"Because you're my nakama." Luffy replied. "And your dream is my dream, too."
Because your dream is my dream, too.
It was true, Sanji marveled as he watched Luffy cram a handful of marshmallows into his mouth. His dream wasn't just to find the All Blue anymore…
His dream was to see Luffy as the Pirate King.
But he would find the All Blue, too. Because it's definitely out there.
