A Twilight couple who doesn't get as much love as they should. They belong to Stephenie Meyer not me.
Esme and Carlisle were talking a few yards away, heads close together, fingers linked, not paying attention. There was a light breeze flowing through the meadow. Their children surrounded them under the light of the full moon. On nights such as these it would have been pleasant to gather in the meadow for a night of fun and laughter. It would have been, if not for the threat of the newborns on their way from Seattle.
"You're worried." it wasn't a question for Carlisle already knew the answer.
She sighed and squeezed their hands together as she leaned forward to bury her head in her husbands shoulder. She was worried, worried about so many things. Not being able to stop the newborns, failing to protect Bella, and the worst fear of all, that her family would be seriously harmed. She inhaled Carlisle's sweat scent before looking back into her lovers eyes. She just couldn't bear the thought of never staring into those beautiful orbs again.
"Yes." was all she managed before he could place a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"Everything will be all right Esme we will stop them before any harm is done to Bella." He seemed confident in his reassurances.
"Bella is not the only one I am worried about." she said so quietly he barely heard her. His eyes softened at her statement and his hand reached out and caressed her check. He didn't answer her right away, but stared into her golden eyes.
"I will be fine I promise you."
"Don't make promises you can't keep Carlisle."
"Esme, our family is strong. We will make it through this, all of us, together." His eyes where alight with the passion he felt for his family. There was no denying that Carlisle believed wholeheartedly in what he had said. He believed his family would prevail. His passion was infectious and she was swept up in his never-ending confidence.
"You're right, thank you for helping me see what I already knew."
"Of course." he said, his voice as soft as velvet.
"I love you." she whispered.
"And I love you." he gave her a tender smile. "now lets head over to the others I'm sure they're about ready to start the demonstrations."
Hand in hand they slowly made their way further into the meadow. They where ready to learn as much as they could and ready to protect the lives of those they loved.
