Just A Kiss
Her heels clicked on the pavement as she returned from their "date". He was right behind her but she had fled the car quickly, barely taking the time to wrap her shawl around herself. She tried to make it to her door before he could catch up but he had thought she might flee.
"Natasha," he took her bare arm gently. She turned and looked at him, her eyes speaking volumes of what her mouth refused to say.
"I need to go inside," she whispered not making a move to escape his grasp.
He smiled kindly at her, trying not to scare her. She found herself calmed by his usual smile, the one they shared privately. She inhaled a little and smiled back.
"Natasha, I had a good time tonight," he said releasing his loose grip on her arm.
"Ya, me too," she whispered nervously. "But I don't think we should do it again," she looked away from him.
"What why not?" he asked confused, she just said she had a good time.
"Because Clint," her head whipped to face him. "We have a good thing, our partnership, Fury's said it himself, he's never seen two people work together like we do, we're risking that by doing this," I whispered.
"Natasha we can always go back to being friends and partners if this doesn't work. But I want to give it a chance, I feel like this could really work with us Natasha. I feel like you might be the one person on this earth that I actually have a chance to have a real life with," his eyes were desperate. He needed her to understand that she really was his only option, he didn't feel like anyone else could possibly understand him. What he didn't know was she felt the same way but she needed him in anyway she could have him and she couldn't bare to loose him.
"Here come sit," he pulled her onto her porch swing with him. He wrapped his arms around her to keep her warm against the cool autumn night. They sat like that for awhile neither really knew what to say because they'd already done the getting to know each other part, now it was the intimate stuff. The details, the technicalities, hell they were probably closer than most married couples but they just didn't think of themselves in that context.
Natasha finally let herself relax in his arms, it was a well known fact that she had a promiscuous past sometimes that involved some fake cuddling to get last bits of information. Nothing had ever felt like this. Clinton's arms were strong and toned and completely engulfed her.
She inhaled his scent deep in her nostrils before turning her head and kissing his lips softly. They both inhaled sharply at the spark that radiated throughout their bodies from the small contact. Clint's mind went reeling on what everything else might feel like with her if such a small contact sent his world spinning. He pulled her closer to him and soon she was seated on his lap and she pulled away panting for breath.
"I really should go," she said although his arms prevented her from making any move for it.
"I don't want you to go," he said.
"We have to part ways at some point," she said giving him a small smile.
"That doesn't mean I have to want to," he said smiling at her before reaching up and claiming her lips once more.
"Clinton," she said pulling back a few seconds later.
"Sorry," he said releasing her.
"Just a kiss for now," she whispered standing from his lap and walking inside her house. She kept her body pressed firmly against the door until she heard his car slowly pull away from her house. She exhaled and pushed herself from her place on her door. "Just a kiss," she whispered again going to bed.
