Here in Willow Woods things were very peaceful. The sun was shining on a beautiful day, birds were singing. A perky, excited young red squirrel had sprung awake and was about to head off on his way. This little squirrel was named Conker. By nature he was pretty thoughtful and kindhearted, but he did have a bit of a mischeivous streak in him as well.
"I'll be back later mum..." the young squirrel said with a small smile as his mother gave him a big hug. "I'm gonna go find Berri, but I won't spoil the surprise!". The squirrel's closest friend Berri herself was a sweet, tranquil chipmunk. They had known each other since they were young so their friendship was truly insperable. It was her birthday today and Conker had made a promise for himself to escort her to the surprise party. There they would meet with all their friends from the distant lands, who had pitched in with special gifts for the occasion.
As Conker triasped his way across a bridge on the river, he gazed around at the peaceful surroundings. Flowers were blooming in the fields as blissful bees buzzed; travelling to and from one flower to another in the process of pollination. Fluffy clouds floated in the clear blue sky above his head. "It's always pleasant to walk this way to Berri's place." Conker said, inhaling a bit of fresh air through his shiny black nose.
Just as he reached the treehouse where she lived, Conker felt something swiftly perch on his shoulder. He turned his head slightly to take notice of a small greenish owl, her large black eyes gleamed in the sunlight. "Oh hello Knowit, did you want to accompany me in visiting Berri?" Conker asked politely, as he knew this bird well.
"I've actually come to warn you of something strange..." The owl spoke softly, cooing and preening its feathers. "...While on my nightly flight, I happened to catch out of my eye the appearance of a shady, mysterious figure. I have deepest fears he could be an underling of King Acorn, ready to spread devistation." Conker sighed softly and just shook his head, as he usually thought Knowit's assumptions were just her being a bit too worrisome.
"Hey if there's trouble happening, I'll be sure to scurry to it!" Conker reassured her with an eager demeanor; just as he began climbing up the rope ladder to the door. He knocked on the door softly, causing it to open up.
Berri peeked out and then welcomed her two friends with a smile. "Oh, hi there guys. I'd hate to break up smiles, but there's been some trouble." she rambled. Her tone had ended up becoming a more sheer, sad one. Knowit turned her glance to Conker looking serious now, as he tried to shrug it off awkwardly. "Well whatever it is, we're both here to help!" Conker spoke as he stepped in. Berri nodded now with another smile to show she was confident, beginning to explain of how a burly feline figure was snatching some magical balloons.
"That's probably K.O. doing his dirty work!" Conker clarified. "That ill-tempered cat is just as much as a fiend to do such a thing. Those balloons were for the pres-I mean, our friends to hold onto!" He stammered, afraid he had almost spoiled the surprise. What mattered now was heading out to find that bully and put a stop to whatever devious plan he was up to.
Berri and Knowit assumed what Conker's resolution was and agreed to follow him. The trio of friends were heading off for Windy Pastures, as they knew there of a friend who could help them practice up on their skills. They were going to need as much service as they could get.
