Chapter 1: Silent Alerts

At 10am, the Megaship's corridors were silent. The rangers were working in various parts of the ship, like any other day in the life of a Power Ranger. Except, the atmosphere upon the ship was similar to one at a funeral service, as the Earth-bound rangers were not as lively as they normally were. This was evident this morning at breakfast, were Karone and Andros were arguing about when to land the Megaship on a nearby planet for maintenance. Karone wanted to wait until the weekend, while Andros was addiment about doing so after breakfast. Karone just glared at him, Andros rolled his eyes and continued eating effectively ended the argument not a victor. That's when Zhane opened his mouth, teasing Andros for fearing his little sister.

"If I had a sister, I wouldn't be as whipped as you!" Zhane laughed.

At that comment, a loud clang echoes through the hanger bay. Everyone looks over at Cassie who had dropped her fork onto her plate. Karone begins to open her mouth to ask if she was okay, but she stops as she sees the rivers of tears streaming down the Pink Ranger's face. The Kerovans stared at the girl, startled due to the fact that they have never seen such an intense emotion from her. Cassie quickly jumps up from the table and runs out of the room sobbing without a second glance.

"Cassie!" Karone shouts after her friend. She places her glass of orange juice on the table and gets up to chase after the hysterical girl.

The remaining rangers stay seated. Andros and Zhane stunned, frozen just looking at the doorway that the girls had exited though. They simultaneously look at each other and turn their attention on the last two Earth rangers. They look just as depressed as Cassie but seemed to have a better handle on the emotions marring their faces.

TJ looks up from his plate and glares over Zhane, who flinches at the intensity.

"You couldn't have chosen any other wording. Seriously dude."

TJ and Carlos both stand up and leave the room hastily. Leaving Andros and Zhane in a state of shock once again.

"What did I do?" Zhane asks.

Andros shrugs "I have no idea, you get their Earth customs more than me. What is it Christmas?"

"Christmas is a happy holiday, not someone's funeral. You seriously need to get off the Megaship." Zhane rolls his eyes, stands up, and begins to clean up the missing rangers breakfast dishes.

On the other side of the Megaship, Karone is quickly making her way to the living corridors, to Cassie's room. She knocks on the door and waits for a response from the ranger.

"Hey Cassie." Karone shouts.

After a few silent moments, there is no reply from the other side of the door.

"Cass?" Karone asks again, as she looks at the door confused.

"You're not going to get her out anytime soon." a voice appears behind her.

Karone jumps and turns around to see Carlos and TJ looking at her. She begins smiles at them but halts as she sees that they are wearing the same depressed, heartbroken face that Cassie had.

"Why? What's wrong with her? Was it something we caused?"

TJ chuckles and stares at the floor "She's okay, physically. We all are, today's just not a happy day for us. Let us handle Cassie, we've got her."

Karone wanted so desperately to ask what had happened, how she could help, but she knew better and didn't.

Karone nods in agreement and starts to walk towards the bridge. She glances behind her and watches as TJ knocks on Cassie's door, it slides open, and an extremely hysterical Cassie jumps in TJ arms crying loudly. Karone refocuses her attention to in front of her trying to ignore their heartbreaking moment and steps into the lift.

The moment she stepped off the lift, she knew something was wrong. Karone simply glances at the front screen and her eyes widen as she spots a red dot flashing on the image of Earth, that light meaning that there is something endangering the planet. Karone runs over to Andros's station and starts punching in controls to get a better look at the trouble.

The sound of snoring makes her freeze and she whips around to see Zhane, asleep in his chair, drooling falling from his open mouth, she shakes her head and picks up a paper ball that the boys were playing with the other day and aims it at his head and receives a perfect shot resulting in waking him up.

"What, where are the dancing unicorns?" Zhane shouts.

"Zhane there's trouble on Earth! Wake up you idiot." Karone screams at the clueless boy.

Zhane blinks, runs over to her, and looks at the screen.

"DECA why didn't you tell us about this?" Zhane asks irritated.

"No one is in danger." DECA replies.

"But..." Karone starts to argue with the onboard computer system, but looks up at the screen, she'd just got the satellite image up, but whatever was causing the disturbance was currently gone, just before she could get a picture of it. The only thing on the screen is the remains of a blown-up building, in the middle of an open dessert.

"It's gone." Karone whispers.

"What? It was just there." Zhane crys.

"I'm aware it was just there. I don't know where it went, but I have a feeling that this place is not like that by accident." she replies pointing to the screen and stares at Zhane, who is for once wearing a serious look on his face.

Zhane nods and presses a button in front of Karone.

"All rangers please come up to the bridge" Zhane pauses and looks at the screen, "I believe we have a problem."
