Midnight Kiss

It was a time when they hardly knew each other; young and naïve. But as inappropriate as it seems, he badly wanted to kiss her. Her lips were so enticing to him. She was appealing even if she meant not to charm. Hashirama wondered if maybe, just for a moment, he could steal a kiss from her.
His question was answered when his family spent the New Year's Eve at Whirlpool. He offered her a stroll by the gardens, to which she gladly accepted. Nearing midnight, the two sat side by side at a gazebo, enjoying the view of the night sky as it burst with color.
"You know, Princess Mito," he spoke, "There is a custom where people kiss at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve. Otherwise, it would ensure a year of loneliness for those who fail."
Mito giggled. "Is that why you offered to take a stroll with me?"
Hashirama admired her wit. "Perhaps," he chuckled. The fireworks continued to light the night sky and in the distance, they heard the countdown had already begun. "Very well then, Hashirama Senju," she said as she stood in front of him. Hashirama hesitated for a moment, then he gave her a smile. Carefully he leaned in and filled the gap between their lips. It lasted for a moment or so. When they broke apart, they were smiling. "Happy New Year, Princess Mito."
