In The Valley Below

The beautiful colors in the sky were fading to grey as the sun started to sink lower and lower. Ivan shivered as the cold wind bit at his muscular arms. He used the back of his hand to wipe his nose as he looked through blurry eyes.

"Lili, are we almost there," the Russian man questioned without his usual fake smile.

"Yes," came the quiet reply from a small whispering voice.

The young blonde girl was a few feet ahead of the tall man. She was wearing her usual frilly dress with the bow in her short hair. A small smile was gracefully flickering on her pale pink lips. She had noticed how her older friend wasn't even trying to fake his happiness anymore. She decided to try to put a real smile on her friend's face.

"Okay. We are here, Vanya," Lili turned around, announcing with a smile.

Ivan frowned when the girl called him Vanya. She knew that he hated it when someone called him that.

"Don't call me that," the Russian man grumbled.

Lili covered her mouth as she giggled lightly, earning herself a glare. She skipped to Ivan's side, grabbing his hand and dragging him to the edge of the cliff that they had arrived on.

"What am I supposed to be looking at?"

"Look below us."

Ivan complied and looked down at the valley below them. His purple eyes flashed with a certain spark. In the valley was a crystal clear river cutting between rows and rows of magnificent and vibrant flowers. Lilies, roses, violets, blue bells, water lilies, sunflowers, and lilacs. It was such a breath taking sight and Ivan honestly did not know what to say. He was just too appalled to say a word.

"What do you think?"

The question interrupted the Russian's thoughts. He into Lili's smiling face with a blank one.

"It's amazing," he said bluntly.

Lili giggled again, intertwining their fingers. It took Ivan off guard fore he had already forgotten that they were holding hands.

"I hope this made you feel better."

"Why?"

She squeezed his hand lightly.

"Because I'm your friend and friends worry their other friends when something is wrong with them. This makes them feel horrible in turn and want to make their friend feel better."

Ivan smiled after a few minutes of looking shocked. He squeezed her hand back.

"Yeah, it did make me feel better. Thank you."

"I'm glad."

'Maybe I'll just kidnap her and make her my little sister,' Ivan thought to himself. He let a small chuckle pass through his lips when he imagined Vash's furious face is he ever did that. It was the beautiful beginning to a wonderful friendship that was sure to blossom just like a flower in the valley below.
